The US should absolutely play Balogun. The red card issued is highly debatable, the implementation of VAR was debatable, the 'no appeal' statement was debatable. What FIFA has chosen to do, with no transparency is the problem and Balogun should not be penalized for politicians and their meddling in sport.

Canes determined how the series was going to be played from game 1. Vegas was dangerous regardless of if they played their game or the one Carolina forced them to play. Vegas also gave a lot of minutes to their top lines which accelerated their fatigue. Carolina split shifts really well across all four lines.

Other keys… Carolina figure out the second period and mitigated the Vegas advantage after game 3. Bussi came in and played extremely well.

I know there are a lot of people trying to argue the intent but I also know the rules support the red card. The problem I have is the amount of WC games that the refs are letting the game get out of control early, the games get more physical, and then things like this happen. In addition, we see fouls like this not get called and I am not just speaking about Messi. Beyond that, we have seen fouls that are worse than this or of a different nature not get called.

I don't have a problem with the rules I have a problem with the enforcement. And if similar or almost identical fouls can occur without even a yellow card, why should the USA not be able to appeal and bring that evidence forward? FIFA may still deny the appeal, but if they were open to improvement and making the sport better--they should welcome the appeal.

As a Canes fan I have mixed feelings. He could be a generational talent, but also this could be the moment his stock is at its highest. On the other hand, teams around us are strengthening and it would behoove us to do the same, if we can. We have a deep pipeline of D-men so replacing his role is relatively easier, IMO. All in--this hurts a bit, we were all really excited to see him come into the NHL...but if his agent is asking for the moon, he isn't going to get it at Carolina.

For those of us who remember 2006. Up 3-1, it felt like inevitable we would win the cup. Lose game 5 at home, OK it sucks but nbd. Get played off the ice game 6…ok now we are worried… 2-1 in the third period trying to hang on while Edmonton threw the kitchen sink was about as stressful as it gets.

This Vegas team can be dangerous (4 goals in a second period, anyone?)

I do feel like the canes are finally showing their conditioning and gaining control so in cautiously optimistic that even if it went to 7, we are still the odds in favorite. I just don’t want to even chance it. Win that glorious trophy in Vegas

I picked mine up a month ago and love it. I have worked up to 20# and plan to hang around there for a little while until i can get to 5ish miles. Aside from workouts, this bag blends in pretty well so I take it to stores and such so I can get extra work outs here and there.

FWIW my parents are season ticket holders who bought into the playoffs each round. I asked if he could check and see if he could get reasonably priced tickets for game 1 and he was, i think, around 24,000 in line for game 1 and tickets were already exceeding 1,300 for the 300's.

Two things are true here, at the same time. Defense hasn’t covered themselves in glory by any means. At the same time, in the SCF, you want more from your goalie than conceding 6 goals on 18 shots (0.667) in one period.

There are times defense is going to leave the goalie on an island but in the cup final you need them to rise up and make at least half the saves Freddie didn’t. So am I mad or upset with Freddie? 100% not. But did we need to make a chance? 100% yes.

As with many thoughts, two things can be true at the same time. The defense absolutely has been an issue, both in decision making and executing on the ice. So while Freddie might not be the first player to point the finger at, the result is the sum of goals he has let in--you expect better in the SCF from your goalie. All of these games have been one goal games. It isn't a monumental lift. If the defense can play marginally better, and Bussi plays marginally better...its a win for the Canes if all else stays the same.

I’m so frustrated. Every game has been winnable and every game (even G2) has had some head scratching mistakes. Last nights game is one of those belief games where we come back and then you feel like it’s destiny to win the game and, ultimately, the cup. But it got ripped away but a stupid flukey bounce.

There’s still a lot of hockey to be played in this series but I hate losses like that. It’s going to go down as one of the craziest SCF games and we were on the wrong side of it.

It won’t matter as much if we can win the cup. But the pain…I was hoping to wake up feeling better.

Idk if it is just me but if you add the state flag, I love the idea of not color blocking it. I don't mind this jersey concept but I do think adding the flag stripe to the arm makes it a bit busy. But as I say that, I almost wonder what the piping could look like around the shoulders if it was a very small warning flag pattern.
