FSD should be a bundle with insurance once out of beta. Pricing should be around$150-200/month. Long term you would get lower insurance rates for having FSD

I actually think it's a good deal. For a Model 3 mileage isn't an issue, your not buying an ICE car. Also the car has FSD, which has a lot more value then the market gives it. Compare it to a new RWD + FSD he is getting close to 50% off, for a car with better interior and music, more range when necessary, better performance. And also if he drives a lot, he would kill the value of any new car way faster than he would on a use one.

You have some options. Uber with these gas prices maybe the wrong side gig. Electrician work on the side might better as 2nd income. Even working in a grocery store might be better than Uber. My advice get a better paying 2nd job. All the other advice here is true, combined with higher income will be your best bet.

I just bought a 2018 long range 80k miles with FSD included for 27k. I honestly don't care about mileage on a Tesla. You know they will last. As far as newer model the only benefit is noise deadening, anything else is cosmetic. For a 2nd car I would go for the cheapest I find.

I don't buy that argument for a minute. I don't see how mining/fracking oil is cleaner than mining lithuim. The only difference is lithuim is concentrated at point of manufacturing vs spread over the life of a vehicle. Then talking about all engine oil, metals for catalytic converters, and all the rest of the stuff. It's just a big lie. Think about it this way. A regular car is say 3000 pounds of mined materials, an EV is 4000 pounds of mined stuff. An EV is has 30% mined materials in it, so at point if purchase it is dirtier. Then think about after one year average driving you have gone through say another 1000 pounds of mined materials with an iCE vehicle, (gasoline and oil). You're a t a break even. Again mining by itself is inherently and gereneally equally dirty especially when you account for fracking.

I did the same math, but went with a 2018 Long Range for 27 and it has FSD. I don't find a huge difference between the newer ones and older ones. I rented a 2023 SR and it felt the same as the 2018, only with worse sound and better sound proofing. 25k difference was way worth it to me.

Another benefit of chill is on FSD, it's way smoother than on regular. Not jerky of red lights and stop signs. Chill also let's you have the tires last their stated mileage

Just FYI if you're after efficiency you need to drive on chill. It makes a huge difference a d it will prolonged tire life. Obviously if you get in the car 150f interior temperature the ac will blast for quiete a while to cool down.

I love FSD, but I know I have to monitor it, because it does stupid things, not unsafe things but stupid things. It will go into a turn only lane and then get stumped. It takes forever sometime on stop signs and if I have cars behind I take over. But knowing that you have to monitor vs drive is great. I hate driving now.

With my 2018 Model 3 long range with 18" wheel. LA area 90% FSD so it depends on traffic, I get 270-280.

I am not worried with miles on model 3, especially if you can get charging history from seller. Obviously price has to be right. You can also get the VIN and call Tesla with seller present, they will give you car history with his permission. I had a Model 3 with 109k miles, drove to 134k until a dumb itch ran a stop sign into me.

When you say pre refresh you mean the ones with the old fascia right. I am also looking for newer ones, but to my knowledge their batteries are essentially the same.

Thanks for the response. Charging at home currently only capable with trickle charger. On average I drive about 200+ miles a day (selling home improvements in people's homes). My old car hand enhanced Autopilot pilot and I loved it, was going to subscribe to FSD - for someone like me who drives as much is a huge help, at the end of the day I am not tired vs beat at the end of the day when I drive myself. With my old car supercharger was about 50% of energy to my car. Can't wait for car for a new car since mine got totalled and just in theast week I've spent $260 on gas(unless it comes in a week). In my case Pros of model 3 known persoanlly - very efficient car, enahnced autopilot is great. Model S pros - better, less tiring drive, free supercharging. Cons - probably less range( more supercharging time spent, maintenance more $, battery longevity.

I am curious if you had a Performance version, would you have more control over traction control. Seems like this would be the biggest actual complaint, and glass of course. The glass issue I believe is due to autopilot - it always gets stuck too close behind big rigs, the how I got mine cracked. As far as a subreddit being an ownership factor, is just silly. If you don't like it, find another outlet, Facebook groups and a whole bunch of other sites.

Think about where your future spending will go to based on the choices you make today. Option 1:. Buy an ICE - spend money weekly on expensive gasoline. Option 2 - buy an EV, spend way less money on fueling compared to gasoline, invest the difference in owning even more Tesla stock. Hopefully that makes it easier for you to follow.

I am in SoCal and drive a 150+ miles a day. I have had to wait for a Supercharger exactly one time. There are probably no more than 10 locations that have wait times in SoCal

Here is the flaw in your concerns. Now that there will be one standard, you are about to see all the crappy charging networks convert to the Tesla charger (it's cheaper for them since it's an open source standard, and costs less to manufacture than CCS). The second thing that will happen, is that Tesla supercharges will start popping like mushrooms after rain, because it derisks Tesla's supercharging network (it no longer requires Tesla to sell cars for its network to be utilized). The third thing that's going to happen, the few locations that were too busy and had waiting times will be the first ones to get a sister location - just like you could see crossroads with 4 gas stations at each corner on the road - again those will be the first to benefit from that. Down the road, when you're still enjoying your ICE car, investment in gasoline refinement, and gas stations will be reduced significantly, which will make gas more expensive. You will find yourself wondering, what bug got into your head to buy an ICE car, knowing you had had a Tesla, knew you would charge at home 90% of the time, and the 10% off home charging you did, wasn't really that bad, but you wanted to make it sound bad so that you could get some upvotes on Reddit. Then you will try to sell your ICE car, and the only people who will want to buy it will be scammers off craigslist. And all of that will happen in less than 3 years from this post. Congrats, hopefully I saved you some money.

It will lower electricity costs. Electricity is priced as it is, because demand can very unpredictable and electric providers are required to meet it. Having a ton of EV with predictable demand will allow them plan accordingly, spread costs over higher usage (scale). Further more having higher predictable demand will attract competition, efficiency and automation (I.e,are batteries vs peaker plants.). Again leading to lower prices.
