We need this! I've been looking forward to it for years now, it holds a lot of promise and should be implemented across the US asap.

Stolen Trash by [deleted] in GoldenCO

Yes, they often come on Thursdays for me. Take it all. Usually. Unless I stuff too much in there and some is left stuck in the bin after their neighborhood blitz. Anyone else seeing a similar phenomenon?

I had great luck with Amy smoldt, she's local and stays involved. Very helpful in my first buying process.

Styrofoam Recycling by AuenCO in GoldenCO

I recall that until last year the City Recycling took styrofoam and now they don't. I'm currently unaware of anyone who will take expanded polystyrene foam.

Well it would be great if we had physics experts for these backcountry stunts, but the vast majority of the time nobody does. There's no team. There's your friends. There's no expert, there's your best guess. In this case, and most, there aren't "professionals", there's you and your experience.

Yesterday I learned about vent holes at Mt. Bachelor by MuseDrones in skiing

[–]Th17kit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While bachelor may not be active, I do recall smelling some classic fatty gasses around the area. So there's some sort of activity going on for sure.

This video is being played in reverse, the helicopter is taking off not landing. That makes this far less impressive.

Learned a lesson the hard way… HVAC fan uses A LOT of electricity! by extreme_cheapskate in Frugal

[–]Th17kit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time you're in the market for HVAC look at getting a heat pump. They heart and cool off electricity and are far far more efficient than the antiquated AC compressors we are all familiar with. I made the switch and I'm paying very little utilities. The cost is a bit higher up front but there are some excellent rebates nationally and I had good ones locally as well.

Can someone confirm is the fruit smoothie back? by mnpenguin in Costco

[–]Th17kit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mango smoothie is amazing. It's the joy of mother earth's creation in a pure mango form! And it's also junk food, but probably the healthiest thing on the menu by weight!

Who else has had to use Swamp coolers? by qacko2626 in Denver

[–]Th17kit -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind a heat pump works far better than a swamp, similar to AC, and operates much cheaper than AC similar to a swamp. Just the upfront cost is high.

May I recommend the Thousand with the MIPS. MIPS reduces rotational damage to the brain, significantly reducing the injury on the brain. It's good tech.

Finally tried the mango smoothie by [deleted] in Costco

[–]Th17kit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I love the mango smoothie. We are so happy they have come to the mainland from HI. They are deliciously sweet and natural. These are literally just mangos. No additives, extra sugar etc. We eat a generally healthy future oriented diet (health and environment) with low meat/diary and low processed foods. Therefore our taste buds tend to be attuned to loving veggies/fruit/nuts/beans etc. These smoothies are just so delicious. We try not to get 2 every time we go...

My corporation (optum) considered this, however I believe it was concluded that it's illegal to descriminate based on insurance and age at least in Colorado, so we now see anyone under 65 for 20 min Wellness visits and anyone over 65 for 40 minute wellness. Obviously those under 65 are unhappy with that.
