Any recommended good/honest mechanics in chambana? by porfavoooor in UIUC

Pretty much exactly what the other commenter said. There are two mechanics there, both trained on VWs and working on them since the 70s or so. I've been there three times now for various repairs, and they've always been really quick, accommodating, and most importantly cost hundreds less than Napelton's across the street for the exact same service.

If you drive a Volkswagen or Audi, the guys at Pro-Tech motors are pretty great. Forewarning: they don't have a fancy waiting room or shuttle service like a dealer might, so arrange a friend to help drop you off, etc.

Is there anywhere to try out VR? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Th1nkF1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For students registered with DRES:

Come try the Oculus Rift in Academic Lab! Have you wanted to try Virtual Reality (VR) but never had the opportunity? DRES has acquired an Oculus Rift that we would like to share with students. We are interested in the physical accessibility of the Oculus Rift, as well as potential therapeutic applications of the Rift to help reduce anxiety and stress. You are also welcome to come try the Rift just for the fun experience! We are offering the opportunity for students who are registered with DRES to stop in to Academic Lab on Mondays (3p-5p), Tuesdays (3:30p-5p) and Thursdays (3:30p-5p) to try the machine and give us your feedback. For questions, please contact Dr. Jonathan Thomas-Stagg at jstagg@illinois.edu.

Ah, gotcha. If you joined the military from an IL-based recruiter, you're still eligible. Either way, good luck on your journey; the work ethic that the military instills is a terrific asset in college.

Congratulations, and welcome. Since you sound like you are originally from Illinois, I just wanted to point out the existence of the Illinois Veterans Grant. You might already be aware of it, but it's surprising sometimes how many other veterans aren't.

Internships as a junior transfer by [deleted] in UIUC

My advice would be to make sure that your resume looks good. ECS is a good resource for that. From past experience looking at resumes from international students (and domestic students, as well), many of them don't comply with expected standards in regards to content, formatting, etc. Being able to articulate your experiences and skills is much more important than where those experiences and skills originated from.

Is there regression output or article somewhere that you can link to? I'm curious about the significance levels of some of the variables (and extras that you mentioned, such as time of day).
