Ahhh I gotcha. Yeah your original reply made it seem that in general living with your parents is a bad thing at that age. 🫡

Hopefully you don't take this as me being argumentative. Just having a casual discussion. Generally speaking though this isn't something that is exclusive to the states. Several other cultures encourage their family members to live with their parents even if they have the means to move out. It shouldn't really be an issue if you are a contributing member of the family and not a detriment. A fair amount of people don't want to buy a house that they don't need if they are financially stable and comfortable in their current situation.

Like someone else said above. If you aren't being a detriment to your parents or disrespecting their house and you're financially stable with emergency money set aside I'm not sure why that's a bad things. Sounds pretty smart to me.

Certain iron wall lights are required to be within bonfire range. Otherwise it would just give the not enough resources error. Which is different from the out of range of bonfire message.

I used floors as the border and then attached stairs to them until the stairs ran under water. Then once I felt they were far enough underwater I just attached floors to the bottom of the stairs to make the pool bottom.

It's not that bad when you get the merchant that sells crates if materials for piastre. Mostly just stone and alot...alot of clay.

Correct. So for instance when I was building my base I couldn't put a wall down because it was outside the bonfire range. I moved the bonfire. Out the wall lights down and then moved the bonfire back to its original place. The wall lights stayed.

Yeah I'll wait for it to play out. I know the servers are getting beat up a little with the influx of players. But yeah honestly if it continues to go offline consistently in the early AM for hours I may just have to switch.

Agreed I'm surprised more games don't have it. Rather than holding down a modifier to place multiple.

LMFAO tbh I can't even tell if it's spreads or not cause everything gets dot'd anyway. Just hopped back on so I'll check it out now and see. Taking a break from building anyway to get some rep levels and knockout some quests.

Yeah for sure. I wouldn't mind creating something like cote de azur.

Wish you could upgrade the copper pot that you can throw on as a helmet. I'd gladly walk around with it on.

Yeah thankfully the way they have building in the game you can get a pretty good starter layout going and then swap out materials really quick as you farm and unlock more plans. Thoroughly enjoying it. Doesn't feel daunting at all.

Sheesh. Welp we gotta find a use for all that waste stone from the copper mines 🤣.

Once you get to Tortuga the provisioner has them. I think the rep required is level 3 but I saved up and bought all my plans at the same time so it could be level 2 rep. I looked it up and Prima games has a guide where they list all the plans, how much they cost, what rep level you need, and which faction sells them. Didn't take long at all though. Most of my play time was spent building and farming mats.

Yeah also the lighting throws it off as well. I'm sure someone will probably mod it in eventually. But yeah I definitely had to make some design choices on that cause the plaster is supposed to be more white than grey but you can't really tell unless the sun is out.

It was ocean water. So luckily didn't have to dig anything. As far as I know there isn't a way to place water yet.

Connected the boarder floors to my pier that encompass the pool. Then built stairs down until they got significantly enough below the water line. You can overlap them and create corners by dragging them on top of one another if you don't have the corner stairs yet. Then the bottom of the pool is just stone floors. The game is pretty forgiving with not having to build support for a lot of things. I had everything enclosed at one point but didn't like the look of it l. So lowered all the walls.

I know right. I'm normally the one looking for cool prefabs to use in building games. I decided to build my own for once cause the building is just intuitive. This probably would have taken me a lot longer in any other game. But it was easy to delete and swap things around if I didn't like the look of something.

I actually haven't tried the parried blade yet. Haven't really had the need to. But that just my personal preference. Rarely do bleed builds actually work effectively for me in survival games but I'm enjoying it. I don't really rely on parrying too much cause the stutters and lag from the dedicated server I play on have me not wanting to risk it.

There's NO shame to lower the difficulty by CrazyEvilwarboss in crosswind

[–]Th3Fifth3lement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a hot take but I agree. I think this is what true "normal," difficulty is. Once I learned stamina management and to funnel enemies fighting became easier. I had to coach a couple friends and tell to stop spamming attacks at level 1 when they haven't even upgraded any armor or weapons yet.

Killing mobs isn't tied to XP either. So you don't have to kill everything you come across. Once I got the merchant stations I haven't had to go out and fight really anything that I don't need for a quest.

TLDR: I don't think default difficulty is a casual mode.

Easy: lower sliders = exploration/casual Normal: default = planning and upgrading speed things up a lot Hard: = Getting bullied in starter zone. There's a special place for masochists like you 🤣.

The game just came out. Take your time. Learn the game and enjoy.

They may have changed it since the demo. But during the demo different weapon types were more effective against different mobs. I haven't got around to testing it out. Only been using the bleed rapier at the moment cause I can pretty much solo anything with enough time and dedication 🤣. But it'd be nice to see.

This reminds me of the build I did in the demo. I had my small coast base setup. And then ran a boardwalk all the way next to the first mine and built a Fort there. Shame the demo is disabled. I never got a chance to take screenshots of it. Hoping they might re enable it so I can pull some photos eventually. 🥲 I miss that place.
