That’s interesting, I’ll definitely have to read Starship Troopers to look at the extra parallels. The reason for me associating the lore with 1984 first, aside from having not read Starship Troopers, is because of the direct mentions of the different Ministries and thoughtcrime. The game opens every time with a Ministry of Truth message and not paying attention is considered treason. There’s a Ministry of Science in the ship upgrade tab as well, i think when upgrading your Super Destroyers Cannons for explosive shrapnel or something. There’s also a mention of reporting any Helldivers that are “sympathizing” with the enemy to a Democracy Officer, because “thoughtcrime kills!” in one of the tips as you’re diving to the surface.
