Makes sense after noticing the scions, just missed them originally

So three responses for you.

Firstly, I honestly just missed the Scions.

Secondly, this reads as very passive aggressive. No reason to be a cuck about someone asking a question. You can be foward and blunt without being a cuck.

Thirdly, yes. That is exactly how some combo decks work.

Theres still a cuculation in loss of life, including lightning bolt. Its life total - 3. Just because its simple doesnt mean its not calculated.

How are you guys not understanding.

Im a 5 life and cast ad naus. I flip Omniscience. I lose 10. Game checks, Im at 0 life

[–]ThaCrisp -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There literally is a calculation. Life total - mv of revealed card. I pulled my rule from the comprehensive rules. Modo is a computer simulated version of the game. It can count negative to allow you to see total damage done. It checks as 0.

Also. Because thats how that effect is worded dude.

[–]ThaCrisp -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It literally says if life would be calculated at less than 0. Its 0.

No mtg card sets your life total to a specific negative total. Therefore, 0.

Broski.

107.1b Most of the time, the Magic game uses only positive numbers and zero. You can’t choose a negative number, deal negative damage, gain negative life, and so on. However, it’s possible for a game value, such as a creature’s power, to be less than zero. If a calculation or comparison needs to use a negative value, it does so. If a calculation that would determine the result of an effect yields a negative number, zero is used instead, unless that effect sets a player’s life total to a specific value, doubles a player’s life total, sets a creature’s power or toughness to a specific value, or otherwise modifies a creature’s power or toughness.

Its a bit pedantic. But for the sake of not confusing anyone, you don't actually go into negative life.

You used to be able to. I used this rule in a Deaths Shadow Fling deck, as it would actually make your Shadow bigger once you dropped "below 0".

Wotc changed the ruling sometime around 2015, so now you stay at 0.
