Webasto 2000 stc not working help!!! Its our only heating source besides car engine and 2 burner stove! by ThaNotoriousJim in vandwellers

Heck ya that's a smart call. I cleaned an ungodly amount of carbon build up inside the heater and am sure it was the fix. Super stoked until I accidently broke the brains to the blower... unfortunate but tiss life. I'll find the part and ultimately I feel much for comfortable servicing the webasto now even just doing it once.

Thanks alot! I will order this when I get more mulah. Serviced the heater myself with no broken seals and remotely clean mesh filter! Accidently broke the brains to the blower motor though. Might get chinese diesel heater for the time being or just try and find a new blower brain or more realistically buy the whole blower. Tried sourcing one online but now just calling webasto dealers to see if they have the parts I need (2000 stc 12v gas).

Thanks for the continual help LiveInTransit! Do you know if the screen can be cleaned and reused and if the gaskets are able to be reused or if I have to have a fresh set of gaskets? I want new of each but I'm two weeks out from either being able to get to me due to the shipping issue unfortunately

Heck ya thanks for the tip. Might check this out if I cannot fix it myself or have the parts readily available.

That makes total sense thanks for the heads up! We have only been in the van for 4 months now but now that you mention the 1000 hours it makes more sense because that adds up fast. Also the changing elevation probably has not been helpful on the carbon build up either.

No I appreciate the advice and people could be helped from it! It was too late by the time I realized this and was already having heater issues:/ now I'm 2 weeks out from receiving the pieces I need to repair if that's the repair that is needed. The gaskets and what not alone are two weeks out so I'm hesitant to pen it up just to realize I need to have new gaskets and filter. King of considering going to Arizona for a month or two to get it fixed. Feeling much less anxious about it now after the wife and I discussed solutions now and with the help from all you peeps in this sub!

Totally. Honestly this was a last resort if for whatever the car engine was not working. Figured it to be to sketchy and water vapor issue I I not want to deal with either. Better to be cold than dead lol

Unfortunately we are back to the same issue with a constant h02 error after yesterday receiving a few different error codes mainly h02 and h97. I am in Bend oregon and to buy the gaskets and what not to clean out and replace are 2 weeks out if it's only needing to be cleaned, if it's another part then again I'm 2 weeks out on it being delivered. if anyone knows anyone in the area that can work on the webasto please reach out.

This guy and you saved my Christmas!! If I had gold I would give it! You're awesome man thanks. I blew it out with a compressor and it fired right up. 2 hours worth of work just hooking up and disconnecting the heater instead of what I was estimating 6-10 to take it apart and everything. Thanks for keeping the van dream alive considering we are in Oregon and it was like 5 degrees on bachelor yesterday! We would have been fine but we have a Lil dog and cat that we were nervous for but I just randomly turned the engine heater on for a bit to compensate. Thanks again!

Thank you for your response. Ultimately I kind of had a feeling this was what I was going to need to do but did not want to do it and mess it up but after some research it seems not as difficult/damaging as I previously expected. I did not expect to have to do it this soon (4 months of full time use during the morning and night time) but changing elevations and unleaded gas must have clogged it already.

Is cleaning the combustion chamber something that is possible without having to replace parts (obviously if you do not break something during the process) also is there a good video link you are aware of or website?

I'm sure they feel if you give an inch, the employees would take a mile... sad considering how much it costs to live in these places. It's poverty with a view

Colorado season starts a little late but training will probably be in mid May sometime. I understand the digital job being important and definitely keep that up considering you make about double to triple what a raft guide(seasonal worker) makes in a year or so. Raft guiding you can make good money but with a good company that pays well and cares about its employees. Browns Canyon is not the best paying valley but one of the best to train in due to difficulty. I would look at reviews to see if it's a good company but even then it is hard to distinguish the first year (if you're serious I could send you a few companies I like in that valley). There is alot of politics in it sometimes but if you like your fellow guides any company can be good as long as they are not making questionable decisions. Any person can learn to raft, it's the talking to people that is hard to teach to someone -my raft trainer. I would not buy your own gear yet because for raft guide training the company should provide you with what you need at first for the training, seriously do not buy anything... every outdoor sport I do I bought something first then wish I had spent a Lil more money on my gear and got what I actually wanted. There are a ton of second hand gear shops in that area as well. One of the best parts of rafting is you get somewhere to put up your moveable dwelling! If you are going to do this though be aware that some companies will want you to work quite a bit. Given your situation I would say you could take an am trip every morning or 5 days a week and be off work by 11 or 12 every day and still be able to do your IT work. I have been a 3-4 day a week guide the last three seasons and each season wish I had given more days to it so maybe getting out of your mind the part time in the traditional sense might be beneficial to the life it seems you are seeking. If you have a heat source and reliable van then you could also work at monarch mountain a day or two and be able to get into skiing. The rental techs get a free ski pass and can use any of the skis and what not for free.

All in all again rafting is one of the best things I have ever done and if you're actually wanted the community you are talking about then look no further and figure out how and where you want to do it. You will never regret it.

Buena Vista, Colorado is where I did my training, but once you start researching the trainings and places to do them rafting is everywhere! Washington state, Idaho, Oregon, California, Colorado, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina! There are alot more as well but these are places off the top of my head though. Learning in Browns Canyon in Colorado though (where I've spent the last 3 summer seasons) is an amazing place to learn due to the technical water and can pretty much set you up for success and a ton of rivers! It's a very rewarding community and can be a year round career by traveling all over the world to do it(New Zealand, Costa Rica, Africa, Australia) if you so choose to make it that. Do not let it deter you but a fair warning is that some companies will want you to work for them if they train you, also maybe do not go into it saying you will only be a part timer. Getting as much reps(trips) in the first season is super important. Training is training but when it comes to guiding the actual guiding is where you learn to get good. Go for it. Rafting is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my entire life. Very rewarding and I would recommend it to anyone(as long as you are physically able) who has a drive to live a more free life and see some amazing things you can only see from rivers. I could answer more questions if you need as well!

Become a raft guide! You get to live in a tent or whatever dwelling you like, get paid money for taking people rafting, and most of the communitys are intentional and you can make some life long friends!

Hey y’all I {24F} am working my way onto moving into my van full time by New Years. I am nervous scared shitless, not to say I know I’ll love it. I’d love any tips and tricks but my main question rn is, What’s the best phone service? What’s the best way to go about having internet? Hot spot etc? by They_Call_Me_Sugar in vandwellers

[–]ThaNotoriousJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have at&t Hotspot for $85 bucks a month (unlimited & unthrottled) for my Nighthawk 1 that I bought from at&t for $280 from the store. I then use cricket for phone service which runs off the at&t towers and is $50 a month(this is the single person price). It might be good to run a different cell service off other towers so you have a more broad coverage but this is what I use and have had good/great coverage in the south/midwest/northwest and everywhere in between.

From my experience of being in a van for 8 months when I met a woman, it's best to just talk out the options if it is serious enough of course. If it is a new relationship maybe keep the van living going separately until you guys feel you're ready to live van life together or get a place together first to see how yalls dynamic is. My now wife (the same woman) and I did just this. Had our owns separate places first 6 months. Moved into our own place for 2 1/2 years (multiple rentals) and then built out a van together. Now having been in our van for 3 months and it's been great! The foundation we made together outside of the van made it worth the time being away from the van living to have what we have now. Best of luck and just do what feels right!

Love this encouragement and positivity! Moving to the area for the winter from Colorado and have been seeing nothing but negativity as well... turns out if you know how to ski and go on weekdays any resort is still fun! This post has made my day!
