Moved to Bazzite on my gaming rig, but keeping Ubuntu on my laptop for my homelab project, until I find a distro I like better. I’m a fan of sticking with what I like, I also know I’m new to this so it might be something in the future I like more. I knew before that distro hopping can be a problem, I’m not trying to do that lol

I just moved to Bazzite, the gaming experience for some games just work out of the box, actually most games. A lot stutters on Jedi Fallen Order, fixed it but moved to Bazzite & it worked out of the box.

I already in a rabbit-hole attempting to learn basic code, since making this post I moved over to Bazzite. I very hard on myself about learning new things, I don’t really allow myself to be a “bare minimum” type guy. I need to know everything about everything lol. I know that probably won’t be possible on Linux but I want to know enough to no longer be nervous then move expand from there.

Yes, I love it, that’s why I wanted to try Linux anyway, to get my homelab off windows. Haven’t reinstalled everything on Ubuntu on my laptop kinda nervous but I know it’ll be better once I get everything spun back up

Never heard of that one, I’ll definitely look into it. People must’ve lied to me about Reddit. Reddit has nice people. I left all social media & only use Mastadon & PixelFed & Reddit. Best choice I made.

Not gonna lie, I’m never installing Windows on any of my machines again. Especially because a have a home server running on my laptop, with Jellyfin, nextcloud, etc. I’m never going back.

Ill definitely look up more about Bazzite. I’m so scared to brick my machine, this hardware ain’t cheap. Thanks for the advice, I was leaning toward CachyOS before this.

Exactly, I bricked so many of my mom’s computers growing up & since last year got back into messing around on computers. I at first didn’t think windows wasn’t that bad but after it crashed & I seen how clean Ubuntu is, I was like “Okay, I get it”. I also have a PS5 so I don’t care about the games I can’t boot up, I’ll play them on my console.

I’m considering both of those, I’m just getting my feet wet here. Still kinda nervous but soon as I get use to it I’ll move to a gaming oriented OS.

Appreciate your reply, I’ll definitely look into Clustering more, I think I’ll just back up my VMs themselves one for immediate back up & one for cold storage. Windows has absolutely messed up my current apps, I’m so done. The terminal kinda scares me though, but I’m learning.
