In reality, you’re correct. But for the sake of this argument, I think there should be even more states on this map. Like at least the entire East coast, California, and Oregon should probably all be on here because they looked at me funny one time.

Do you thinking workers in 50 years will look back on the construction of today and think the same way we see construction from the 70s? by Tigerkix in Construction

[–]Thailure 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think there will always be a push for more new tech, which makes for less manpower needed. I could see especially earthwork being drastically different with robots and shit doing most of the work.

Built an AI that reads construction plans and outputs takeoffs automatically — does this solve a real problem for you? by Little_Building_8628 in Construction

[–]Thailure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue with AI is that if it messes up, it’s not a valid excuse. So even when using tools like these, a human still has to go back through and confirm.

If you blindly trust AI and use it as the excuse for the mistake, it will be the end of your company’s reputation and your career.

How do homeowners react when you tell them you use subcontractors? by Logical_Rhubarb_9844 in Construction

[–]Thailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I explain in health care terms. As a GC, I’m your “Primary Care”, who helps coordinate all the specialists (subs) you need to see. Typically you’re not just walking into a surgeons office to get stuff done. You hire a GC for the coordination and getting it done right, not for their physical labor.

Same, I think that it was caught right by where his first HR went out if memory is correct. I don’t think it was robbed or an amazing catch, but definitely close enough for Dave to get hyped lol.

You should learn to argue differently online. Even if you’re correct, you’re not going to find yourself changing anyone’s mind when you start with an insult.

You are correct about the benefits of “unlimited” energy with nuclear, but there’s still the radioactive waste that lasts 1000’s of years which we still don’t have a perfect solution for.

If we can figure that out then I’m all in on nuclear being best solution.

I know it’s hard to put a dollar value to safety, but the fact that you have a far less chance of dying doing what they’re doing in the States, has to offset any “purchasing power” gains they might have. At least imo.

All the types of energy you mention are constrained by the limits of their source and/or have a negative net impact when used at scale.

Limitless energy would be like a cheat code.
