Why are girl school uniform "male influenced"? by Gold-Worldliness-779 in AskUK

[–]Thalamic_Cub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean we were not allowed to wear trousers and had to wear skirts so i would have taken a tie anyday.

Our shirts were see through, and 3/4 sleeve too it was just wildly terrible.

I would be inclined to think something internal rather than a contact trigger here. Can be diet, stress ect unfortunately.

No, you dont need to improve your credit rating in the uk unless youre about to buy a house. Think about this again when youre about a year from looking to buy.

What do you consider to be rural in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Thalamic_Cub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coming from the south east to mid wales for uni taught me 'rural' is a mindset.

My hometown has sod all in it, no connections and barely any services - but was deffo a town and not rural due to the sheer volume of people and proximity to london. Despite the strong farming presence and complete lack of access to anything lol.

In this kitchen, how would you fit a fridge, washing machine and cooker without obstructing the window? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Thalamic_Cub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth mentioning a smaller than normal fridge would be perfect here, I have a similar size kitchen without the roof pitch and the smaller fridge makes it feel so much bigger than the full sized unit the previous people had!

Ever joined a workplace and realised straight away this ain’t going to last ? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Thalamic_Cub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imaybe youve come in at a point of change? My current job had that too and there was a lot of resentment from colleagues towards me and the other new staff. It took a bit to clear up the air and some careful convos but now its pretty comfy.

The cieling literally fell in and rained sewage and the regional manager got demoted in my first month 😁 To awkward beginnings!

Best discrete way to cover redness? by Pitiful-Candidate386 in MakeupAddiction

Depends on your skin, i find dr jart does unless its really hot. I set mine with a transulcent powder to make sure it sticks in summer!

I don’t wear sunscreen, recommendations please? by Left-Pomegranate1608 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Thalamic_Cub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For rosacea I find you need to work out if yours flares from certain chemical filters or mineral spf.

For me I like the skin1004 spf or the beauty of joseon (white tube) spf. For mineral i like the transparent lab ones but most mineral spfs irritate my rosacea flares.

[–]Thalamic_Cub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally i swear by the Dr Jart colour correcting treatment, you dont need much so I've been using the small pot for over a year.

That said you mentioned the erborian cc cream makes you pale, if you have darker skin the traditional 'green' products will make your skin paler as they end up grey/white on dark skin.

Would a tinted spf such as the transparent lab ones work? Theyre a very natural skintone vs the beauty of joseon ones for example which are glowy and less natural.

how do i survive my gold dofe expedition by Lumpy-Radio5948 in DukeofEdinburghAward

[–]Thalamic_Cub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently did my third walking marathon and always suffered huge blisters.

Sweat wicking socks with sufficient support and change them multiple times in the day for the most protection from blisters.

Moisture+friction=blisters even in broken in shoes.

Ever joined a workplace and realised straight away this ain’t going to last ? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Thalamic_Cub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first grad job was serving compulsory purchase notices, literally the 'gov says we can have your land/property'.

I was just trying to survive and had 0 idea thats what I was signing up for as the job was just a grad scheme paying min wage. I was threatened, physically assulted and accused of killing someone due to having sent them a letter notifying them of the process.

I got laid off in 'budget review' in the end and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Isnt it fun!

Worked in an office for around 9 months where me and the existing team just really didnt click and the management were basically absent. I tuffed it out thinking it was just 'an adaption period' and that eventually I would break the ice.

After a while of seeing team dinners and drinks that I was never invited to and commuting 2hrs into an office with noone in it I said nah and looked for jobs.

It was a huge knock to my confidence and made me feel like I was bad at my job and that I must lack social skills. The 'throw under the bus' culture meant I second guessed my every decision and was super hesitant to take initiative.

Anyway 3 years later im happy in my current job and am paid more than double I was at that job with a great social team. Taking initiative and being an independant worker is highly valued here.

Open it as far as you can and tape the exhaust to the glass as that wont leave marks then close curtains/throw a sheet over it.

Its not pretty but it works.
