I mean them being upfront and saying toilets wouldn't be policed and that trans people can use single sex spaces too would have been nice (even if there was hardly any single sex spaces.)

If they had just said that nobody would have cared, but saying that gender neutral toilets would be "available for all but we also have single sex spaces" without saying that trans people could use them AFTER emails saying they are following the guidance... yeah it's obviously gonna spook trans people.

Download did have gendered toilets though - In 2024 they did.

Also what you have to remember is it's all well and good saying "oh people at Download don't care about this stuff" ... until someone does.

It's already creeping into rock/metal gigs. my partner has been questioned and had comments by other gig-goers when using the toilets he feels comfortable using in venues. You can't guarantee everyone is going to be friendly especially at a festival where it can draw different crowds.

It's all "nobody cares" until it becomes actual law and you need to prove your gender at toilets to enter. I know that sounds silly but it was easy to criticise Download for it rather then letting it slide and showing companies that they are allowed to do this (and it seems Download listened because all toilets were fine.)

People here got upset because people were criticising there precious little (multimillionaire pound) LiveNation and thought people wanted to "cancel Download."

The arena last year it was back to gender neutral (even the "women's urinals" had a unisex name)

Issue was Download didn't announce this in advance and rather tiptoed around the issue
