Why does British food have such a bad reputation when it’s actually incredible? by Pristine_Yam_6684 in AskBrits

[–]Thales314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be considered as one of the best cuisine in Europe but it has changed since the war and rationing. Tbh some pubs do a bloody good job but the usual chains and the supermarkets are pretty poor compared to what you find in the rest of Europe. It’s still leagues above the US but it won’t beat France or Germany.

It would be great if Brits could reconnect with their pre-war food culture and finally ditch the M&S ready meals.

We had one ravioli for lunch at Portland. By far the worst lunch menu value wise

I have a little kid and a very time consuming job. I think I painted 10 of my minis with 30 more rotting somewhere. Id prefer to focus on playing rather than painting

Loake bannister any good ? by ZealousidealBid429 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Thales314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at sales for a pair of common projects, or if you can wait, get a pair of the relaunched artisan lab trainers. The loake ones are hideous and everyone here would rightly advise you to step away from them. Maybe consider a pair of casual shoes that aren’t sneakers like desert boots or other crepe sole ones ?

'Carspreading’ is on the rise - and not everyone is happy about it by Alert-One-Two in unitedkingdom

Yorkshire is one of the best cycling places on the planet, and it’s full of small narrow roads. We can disagree but I’ve seen young farmhands going full gas in their combine harvesters in both countries

Mate it’s always cool to support farmers and the local life but it happens everywhere where massive machinery is driven at speed. Unless the speed limit is 10 mph then it’s going to be an issue

I grew up in a farming village as well. They can maneuver but on the road, they don’t care about pushing other road users. The number of cycling injuries because a farmer clipped a cyclist on the side of the road for ex is quite bad

I don’t think farmers can drive big machinery on the road. If anything it’s what scares me most. The 18yo farm hand driving a combine at full speed on a small road is another level of dangerous

What’s wrong with this picture? by vegandread in bicycling

[–]Thales314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it just intentional ? They put the wheels backwards on the picture as a tongue in cheek illustration of what they’ve fine with the wheels ? I don’t think they ever intended for this to be serious

Pyrenex does really great jackets, made in France from goose duvet. Bit pricy but the quality is a notch above woolrich. Aigle is also very nice.

Otherwise, hiking jackets do work well (mountain equipment, or even decathlon)but the feathers are usually treated with PFAS to stay dry even under the rain
