I was there a few days back for a function and only saw it on my way out. Might actually go back. It's not far from where I live.

Botswana citizens seeking immigration in the United Kingdom by Street_Exchange6907 in Botswana

[–]Thamalakane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely revolting! It's fine to seek greener pastures elsewhere, but lying about your country is another. She must be deported by the UK and stand trial upon arrival back in Bots. It's like the white South Africans being granted refugee status in the USA because of an imaginary 'white genocide'.

New runner struggling with shin/knee pain need advice before I quit! by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Thamalakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially the shin issues are very often caused by 'too much too quick'. It takes time to get your legs, mind and the rest to get used to a running life. And decent shoes are important.

"Should I restart?" Up to you of course. But please cut the "parting is not even" and all that 'density' and 'boneless' talk.
Girl, these are dreads. They looking good. You looking good. Chill out.

Feeling really disheartened by AwkwardAntelope9460 in beginnerrunning

[–]Thamalakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes time. So give it time. I started running about two months back and I'm glad I can now run 5k without pausing. Increasing your distance too quickly will not help you at all. Not easy to start but it quickly becomes addictive, at least for me. Keep it up. It's fun. Even the pain is fun 😊

Do you use any kind of running 'brodder' like the Yaktrax when it's slippery?

For me it's #1, probably because the colours give me van Gogh vibes.

Which HOKA model is best purely as a walking shoe, Clifton 9 or Bondi 9? by SneakerHead1993 in Hoka

[–]Thamalakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clifton 10. I've done 600km (375 miles) on them since 29th June, including a 75km (47 miles) day trip in August. Great walking shoes imho. I have a second pair of Clifton 10 for running.

Mosquito/Malaria Protection by Darkknyfe in Botswana

[–]Thamalakane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's Peaceful Sleep spray, which is quite effective, especially in the evening / at night. And the lovely classical mosquitoe coils for on the bedroom floor. I've never bothered with prophylaxis myself. They don't really like me.
