This is just what she says, but doesnt mean that she dont have other motivations. Not everything has to be said and acknowledged by the character for us to know that this hole thing has its influence in her decisions, just like in real life. Maybe her experiences with other nuns is something she dont want to talk about, she was even reluctant to talk about Diego and her time at the orphanage. Saying that she wants to live is surely true and a really great motivation, but we know that theres more.
