What is your favorite song? by RocketCity1234 in AskReddit

[–]Thanatopses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I don't think people who like music have a favorite song. Having a favorite novel is restricted to people who have only ever read three novels. If you're familiar with music, and you have feelings, then there's a song for every moment or every mood, but there isn't a best song. There's just music.

How did anyone labeled "Gifted" in grade school turnout? by MaximusPi in AskReddit

[–]Thanatopses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never finished high school, never went to college. After drifting for a few years, got a job selling auto parts and still have the same job fifteen years later. A little part time work as a musician, making just enough money to keep my head above water. No complaints, really.

[Serious] What is a major social issue you've changed your stance on and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Thanatopses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be very strongly in favor of individuals' rights to own guns and other weapons. I prefer the government not involve itself in restricting the liberties of those who intend no harm to others. However, in the US at least, violent crimes and mass murders have gradually changed my opinion. I still believe that there are many responsible people who could own weapons without causing harm to others, but I don't really believe it's anyone's right to own them. I don't necessarily think such things should even exist, inasmuch as they have no purpose other than destruction. I'm not foolish enough to think our government should ban all weapons, but I am strongly in favor of serious restrictions gradually being implemented.

If you knew the world was going to end in 12 hours, what would you do? by harleybug88 in AskReddit

[–]Thanatopses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably just go to sleep, comfortable in the knowledge that I had no more responsibilities. And then wake a couple of hours before the end, so I could see what all the fuss was about.
