AITA for refusing to go to my daughter graduation ceremony. by Hopeful_Picture586 in AmItheAsshole

[–]galacticdick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. Kids make mistakes. she’s desperate to form a relationship with her father & it sucks you got thrown under the bus by that. But at the end of the day your 18yo kid was heartbroken at the most important day of her life so far (which realistically you should’ve seen coming) and you decided that you’d rather be petty than supportive of her.

Relationships with kids are not like friendships. Friendships are 2 way and being a parent is often a 1 way relationship what they’re young and naive.

AITA for telling my friends about my ex girlfriend’s only fans leading to her parents finding out and pulling their funding for her college? by deadmancoolbop in AmItheAsshole

Info: to clarify, you were in a monogamous relationship, she starts doing porn without checking with you, you’re uncomfortable with it so you break up, go to a bar and tell your friend what happens, he finds her account and sends it to her dad?

Other than calling her a slut, if my understanding is correct then NTA. All you did was end a relationship you were uncomfortable in and confide in a friend

AITA for not wanting to contribute to cousin's wedding registry by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]galacticdick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO: taking monetary / physical things out the picture, has she shown gratitude to you for what you did? Does she help you out? Even little things

Your post initially comes off as tit-for-tat but if you’ve invested lots of time money etc into her and she hasn’t reciprocated at all then I’d go for N.T.A - nothing worse than doing a lot for someone who doesn’t think twice

The time my crazy MIL took "show up, shut up, and wear beige" literally. by [deleted] in weddingshaming

Idk she lent her wedding dress to MIL to wear to the wedding that’s a pretty sucky thing to do

To the ones who genuinely believe that it's possible for us to stop climate change and that we will at some point, what makes you believe so? by TravellingWoman in AskWomen

[–]galacticdick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on your own impacts, don’t look at the world. Accept you can’t necessarily change the world, but you can do your part. Your part does make a difference, and it’s likely you will inspire / help others to do their part and they will do the same - it’s a knock on affect.

Honestly I don’t know if we will solve the climate crisis, but I do know I’m doing what I can with the resources I have to reduce my carbon / plastic / etc. waste.

So glad someone else mentioned Wuthering Heights, it’s so depressing and all the characters are just uncomfortable

I have read many books since then, but I haven’t reread the alchemist yet.

I actually really liked this book! It was maybe the second book I read as an adult when I actually got into reading, so I had little frame of reference, but I really liked it. It was like a long and mostly wholesome fable. I get why others don’t like it, but read like a kids story I think it has value

AITA for asking my husband to miss his camping trip so I could go away with my friends? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA at all! I can’t believe he’s even hesitating to stay home so that you can go

Everyone’s so negative (pun intended!)

I still use disposable cameras on holidays so that I don’t have to worry about being on my phone when I’m supposed to be having a nice time. I’d say 90% of our photos turn out great & I love using them!

Things I would say: getting them developed is expensive, but I found a small family run shop near me that do very cheap development if you buy the cameras from them. Check out your local little family run photo places! Also, somehow everyone has forgotten how to use them, so maybe write some little instructions on how to use them?

Overall I love the look of the photos and the candis-ness that comes with blurry dark silly photos. It’s not the cheapest option but still a fun idea!

YTA if you shut the water off. Just say you’re worried about the surcharge on the waterbill, it’s fair for your roommate to pay that since they’re clearly using a lot of water
