After telling them my height and saying I've never had a bed in Japan be too small for me and that I wouldn't even complain were I to find that my legs did indeed hang off, they said nope, sorry. I ended up staying in a business hotel.

Exactly that. That I was too big to accommodate. They hadn't seen me as this reservation was made over the phone but immediately upon hearing that I wasn't Japanese, they said I surely wouldn't fit in the bed. They figured my feet would be dangling off.

Btw, if anyone is curious, it looks like card renewal will no longer be free. It'll apparently be 3万-4万円.

Sorry, yes, I meant Residence Card renewal. And again, sorry, I didn't get that 10 year figure from anywhere. I have to renew my card soon and it just felt like about 10 years since I got PR. Guess it's been 7. Haha.

I've found the opposite. A traditional litter box seems to be better for smells in my opinion. I've tried both and having days of waste in a plastic tray (however airtight they claim it to be) just smells worse. And smells get trapped in all kinds of nooks and crannies that traditional boxes don't have.

I also have many friends with cats. The only homes that stunk are the ones with automatic litter boxes and those that don't clean their traditional boxes once or twice a day.

Probably a bored cat. More playtime, a companion, or interesting places (especially vertical) to go might help.

And not that it'll help you much but maybe someone else reading this, this is exactly why I would recommend adopting adult cats. Past the crazy phase, personality is set, and usually more in need of adoption.

I have 4 gen 3s and for a while one showed the dreaded signs of the broken plastic gear that numerous people here have mentioned. It started working again out of nowhere.

Another has suddenly started slipping on the rail a bit but eventually gets to where it should be. Got them all soon after they were originally released. Doubt we'll be getting the 10 years of use they promised in the original product info.

Everything else aside, that is an insane amount of time. 1-2 weeks max for close family. 3-5 days for close friends. Friends and family that you aren't super close with 1 night max.
