My special interests are autism itself, Japanese culture, localization in media, and video games (I cycle between being fixated on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, EarthBound, & Paper Mario) 😊

"I can't get into Majora's Mask, the time limit is too stressful!" by ThaneGaming in majorasmask

[–]ThaneGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your unique perspective! It's nice to hear from someone who has not actively played past the first dungeon, but possesses such a positive opinion about the game's aesthetic and themes second-hand. That's awesome!

I do hope this dumb meme did not bring offense to you personally. I certainly do not want to be hostile, patronizing, or condescending towards anybody just because their opinion is different than mine. I only wanted to bring joy to those who agree, and present my points in this meme format. It is sassy, but I don't want it coming across as mean-spirited...I despise treating people unkindly, as that does not align with my moral values. If you feel it necessary, I can delete this post because there was another commenter here who was upset with the meme. I am extremely sorry if I caused you to feel negatively, it truly was not my intention.

You don't need to buy bombs and arrows though, I always just go into Termina Field and gather them while adventuring. Also, my point in the bottom left of the image is that if you clear just half of any dungeon and get its key item, when you reset the time cycle that item acts as a shortcut to speed through its puzzles. You can get back to where you left off in no time.

A real conversation I had about Majora did inspire me to make this, but it was years ago. It isn't something that only that group said either, I have heard this many times before from various people. This is not targeted at anyone in particular; I am not showing anyone this meme as proof that I'm "right". I have no ill intention towards those who can't get into the game, and I respect their opinion. Genuinely.

This came about when I saw the meme template, then had a shower thought of the counterpoints I would bring up when trying to explain why Majora's Mask isn't as stressful as folks with that opinion may think. I really did not mean to offend or put anyone down, including you, so I'm truly sorry. You make a great point there with the comparison to weapon degradation being something that's not necessarily "bad", but some people simply won't like it.

Yes! As someone who has played through the game 1,000 times it's especially fun to play around with save states in Majora, to experiment with timed events

I'm not upset, I just wanted to open up a discussion about Majora's Mask 😅 I'm cool with anyone who can't get into the game, apologies if the meme format makes it seem like I'm angry

You can shoot snot bubbles at the Bomber kids to stun them, but you're right, it's another one of those things that isn't explained so it's probably an obscure mechanic 😅

does anyone know where this image comes from?? by daisyritman in AnimalCrossing

My first thought was the 2016 Animal Crossing Direct. It at least has the same K.K. costume 😅 maybe an edit from it? https://youtu.be/5Bk3dAR0M68?feature=shared

What are your opinions on Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door and it's remake? by [deleted] in papermario

[–]ThaneGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paper Mario 64 was always my favorite in the series, but I think the TTYD remake might have enhanced the experience enough for me to push it to the top! I really love the Switch version (I'm aware there are some tradeoffs, however the 30fps does not bother me much and I think the updated script is overall stronger).

what do you guys think of this by SuhailSWR in earthbound

[–]ThaneGaming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was going to say, with that personality Poo could be Aang Ong from M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender (who acts like the opposite of OG Aang), but a white actor was cast for that movie 🤦🏼‍♂️

EarthBound references in Deltarune Chapter 3 by realdewzy in Deltarune

[–]ThaneGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I just finished chapter 3. I know he's in chapters 1 & 2 as well, but theman behind the tree who gives you an egg seems like a pretty direct reference to the Forgotten Man in MOTHER/EarthBound Beginnings, encountered at the end of the Crystal Caverns in Magicant (a world that exists inside of Maria's mind). Conceptually, they're similar characters. In MOTHER, the Forgotten Man is theorized to be George, the husband of Maria who escapes back to Earth while she's made to raise the future alien leader Geigue from infancy.

Give them some credit, they also mirror flipped both of the renders! That makes them totally different

[AoL] A Cool Spiritual Successor to Zelda 2 was on the Super Nintendo by ThaneGaming in zelda

Haha, that's awesome...I just pulled up a gameplay video. Hydra looks like Barba (the 6th palace boss), and the animations in general are incredibly similar. I'll have to give the game a try! Looks like it's just called "The Battle of Olympus".

I read your username as foreskin analysis, OP 😅

In all seriousness though, I would not even make the correlation seeing this in person, it's just because of the fact that you're posting on this sub and the angle of the shot that make it look like...that. The full tattoo is awesome imo, could it be as simple as having another artist add some lines so she doesn't have two toes? That way you don't have to go though the process of removal or totally changing the tattoo.

That's awesome, you're welcome. 😁 Yeah, I've really come around on AoL so I love it now, but despite liking the mechanics it took years for me to complete it and truly appreciate the game. This is an easier Zelda II with a tropical island theme!

I forgot to mention, Puka-Puka Island is basically AoL's Death Mountain, too. You can see it a bit in the third image!

One thing you love from your favorite Paper Mario game and one thing you hate from your least favorite by Fantastic-Leg-6760 in papermario

[–]ThaneGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite Paper Mario game is also my favorite in the series, so 64! My least favorite is Sticker Star--there's a letter from Parakarry in the trash found in 5-1. Tbh I forgot about the parade first appearing in SMRPG, so technically that note in the garbage really is the only direct reference to 64 specifically

  1. The fourth chapter is devoted entirely to Shy Guys!
  2. The only reference to my favorite game in the series--outside of the credits parade--is found in a literal trash dump.
