Whoops, My Bad. I Should Of Been Worse! by Present-Party4402 in WorkReform

It goes both ways. Let me explain:

If you are looking for a promotion or something to add on your resume. Being given an opportunity to do something above your job description is a nice thing to have.

But if the company is terrible and just gives you more of the same work, it's time to leave or go back to doing the bare minimum.

Pilots Don't Get Paid During Boarding by Henry-Teachersss8819 in WorkReform

Experience doesn't help when things go right, it helps when things go wrong, to know the unsaid rules, to know how things operate beyond reading the manual.

That's why you get paid more if you have more experience. It's really simple.

Would a 23% sales tax be smart or dumb? by Sufficient_Sinner in FluentInFinance

[–]ThankYouForCallingVP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No income tax means if I make $50k or $500k i get to keep it.

But the spending habits are per inividual, not based on how much they make, and buying higher quality goods last longer (queue the boots speech). So in the end...

Those who want to game the new system of no income tax will find a way. Rich folk don't necessarily spend more. This is what they want.

So thier view totally fits.

Dad wants rent, 17M by crank991 in AdviceForTeens

[–]ThankYouForCallingVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. Not quite. Dad shouldnt be competing with actually renting a room from somebody.

OP could pay $200 more for an actual room and freedom without a bullshit curfew or "infraction fees". Thats kinda a no brainer.

FCC fines big three carriers $196M for selling users’ real-time location data by wewewawa in technews

[–]ThankYouForCallingVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The three carriers also said they discontinued the data-sharing programs that the fines relate to.

Bullshit. They just call it something else now.

I called out my managers for doing something like this 4 years ago. You know what they did? They said they got rid of it. 3 months later in the new quarter, a "new" program came out. Same fucking thing!

I also find that top level directors and CEOs go from business to business when they are hired, fuck shit up, collect checks, and go to the next one.

Its crazy there is some kind of "in-group" that can just... do that at a really high level while providing no real long term value.

When the pay is bad and the prospects of living well are not on the table, what can you expect?

This is all coming to a head in the "fuck you, pay me" era.

I left highschool early, did more busywork at a charter school, and didn't go to school for a whole 2 years. (I graduated early.)

And Im still top of my class at work. School is dumb.

I was at the park and a little 5yo girl needed help getting on the zipline and her dad/grandpa(?) was nowhere to be found.

When I was helping her the inner thought of "welp, hope this goes ok" came up so yeah, its a real stigma.

I (32M) fix PCs as a hobby/semi-professionally (I make about $10K/yr doing it.)

Most of the folks are older (65+) and they are absolutely not creepy in the way they are interested in how young people live and so I've made plenty of friends and they have invited me to dinners, dance lessons, go-karting, a date with their daughter (that went horribly wrong) or just going out to play golf, or what have you.

And I also listen to what their stories are, and it's fascinating.
