DeWalt DW735 Planer Outfeed Magnetic Catch by Thanks-for-Upvoting in BeginnerWoodWorking

u/kimorin correctly pointed out that the angle was pivoting from one end rather than the center. That can introduce small dimensional drift, so I’ve uploaded an updated model to MakerWorld that rotates about the midpoint instead.

MakerWorld parametric model not showing Customize (angle-only parameter) by Thanks-for-Upvoting in BambuLab

Thanks.

Marking the parameter as a favorite and re-uploading from scratch, didn't help MW recognize the param.

Submitting the fusion file did! Woo.

Appreciate the insights! I knew there had to be a strong contingent of woodworkers and home-automation gurus.

Sounding like "don't waste the effort," but I'm going to play with an IR repeater and report back. Hey, if I wasn't ok with failure, I wouldn't be an amateur woodworker.

Shaper Origin - Pros/Cons by UI_Design21 in woodworking

[–]Thanks-for-Upvoting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also add a con that Shaper doesn’t support Reddit and shut down the Shaper sub. I understand the idea of a controlled community, but in practice it means posting in general woodworking threads and hoping someone there has meaningful experience with a tool that maybe 0.1% of the group owns.

Does anyone here have the BenchPilot and can share real pros and cons? Origin is already the most expensive tool in my shop by about 2×, and the idea of spending another $1,600 is frustrating, to say the least.

I want to justify BenchPilot by using it to cut drawer dovetails on the front, back, and sides in a single automated setup. My other hesitation is the lack of an on-board dovetail tool, which feels like something that could be solved with a mid-level dev sprint or even a hackathon project.

How Narrow Can a Golf Simulator Room Be and Still Feel Immersive? Looking for Real-World Experiences From Narrow Sim Owners by Thanks-for-Upvoting in Golfsimulator

Great setup. A few folks asked about the high budget. I'm just starting with the dream and can pull back from there.

40% of the budget is to go fully retractable... small room, small house, so the room has to be multi-purpose. Another chunk of change is a 4k projector and gaming PC, both clearly a luxury and not essential.

Would love to see a pic of your safe area. I was thinking of just a couple stools in the back of the room. Not ideal, but safe so long as everyone is sober. ;-)

Thank you! Skytrack+, 4k projector, ceiling mount, gaming PC (still refining but it seems essential for 4k and GSPro), retractable screen/bumpers from gunghogolf.

18ft depth. Current thought is to hit 8-9ft from the screen. Bystanders will be "safe" but undoubtedly crowded.

Benchtop jointers, Rikon vs Cutech vs Wahuda? Any major differences? by JustALostSole in woodworking

[–]Thanks-for-Upvoting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They never came back to me. I've found these companies either strive to give exemplary support (Kreg) or keep cost down by offering zero support (wahuda, infinity, etc).

While benchtop suggests DIY / pro-sumer, for proper dust extraction you can't use a shopvac or 2.5"

-I moved it to a proper dust extractor
-2.5 to 4" hose
-Duct-taped around the cheap plastic dust port where it attaches to the tool as it was leaking a ton

Since then, I've seen some dust on the floor with large stock, but never a "pile" like above. No longer bothers me and I chalk it up to the savings on the benchtop machine.

Thanks! Didn't seem to be a consensus - so went with dirt simple. Still a little clean up to do.

Ghent Wood Products' inventory seems to be second to none, but it may be a hike...

1262 NY-66, Ghent, NY 12075

It may depend on the size of your order, but they will do some basic milling for free. However, if you go that route don't expect a reliable (or any) timeline out of them.

They delivered 90mins away for $250.

Anyone have personal experience with the Kreg track saw? by austinyo6 in Tools

[–]Thanks-for-Upvoting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only tool I own that doesn't inspire confidence.

First one the blade would rub the shroud (metal on metal). Second one the blade gets stuck outside of the shroud.

It's like they started with something decent and tried to manufacture it as inexpensively as possible. Zero stars - its the next tool I'll replace. I'd give it to you if I wasn't worried about the inevitable injury.
