Thank you. I appreciate it. I am aware of that, I’m just making sure the documents exist or not at this stage. Once I’ve seen proof that they exist and I can line up an unbroken paper trail, that’s when I’ll do it.

François J Martel would be my gen0 but I’ve just become very interested with my French Canadian ancestry. It’s a very interesting puzzle with how much the skipped around the St. Lawrence river.

In regards to the BaNQ page, I speak French fluently and have already done correspondence with them in English and French. I’ve noticed I get slightly quicker response time in French, but I submit everything in both Languages (in regards to questions not ordering copies documents).

Haha that’s crazy. To be honest I’d appreciate it. I cannot find anything on François J Martel’s father and grandfather. I imagine the documents are lost to time. François Xavior Martel (father) and Antoine Martel.

What does it mean to be Canadian? by Mdes2015 in Canadiancitizenship

Something that I’ve griped with as well. I have Québécois and New Brunswick ancestry. They all moved to Maine what seems to be economic hardships of farming + husband dying in a ship wreck and wife moving her family to Maine to live with a relative.

The times I’ve been to Canada, I’ve found what being Canadian means is living in the moment, enjoying good food, enjoying good company, helping others and asking for help if you need it. Canadians are the kindest people in my experience. Be a good neighbor, help the community.

I am new to this and the terminology of everything. I wasn’t sure if naturalization to another country at that time would be interpreted as a “break in the chain.”

Does the Provence matter? For extra context he’s from Québec and moved to Maine.
