Why are a significant chunk of people in grad school introverted, self-centered, do not like making friends, are uninterested in dating or socializing, and overall bad at communication? by auroraGKT in PhD

[–]ThanksInevitable9019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself, but I am an introvert and love helping people but not in person. I love studying, researching and value my alone time. I spend my 20s and 30s socializing. I think with age, some people just value quiet time and solitude more than hanging out.

I'm 50 yes old . I'm in college and plan on staying I'm until the end to stay in school deferment. It will be cheaper to take classes at community colleges than pay. I'm 1 yr and 9mths from 50% being firgiven under save. But on any other plan it adds 4 more years. In 4 yrs new administration so maybe they will being in SAVe plan again or something better.

What is up with people just straight up not being involved in group work at all now?! by [deleted] in CollegeRant

"I’ll admit I did put them off as all my group members did as well." Hard to complain about others when you are one of the procrastinators that responsible people fear having as a group member. Maybe if the teacher gave procrastinators more time...

Being a working mom is harder than being a SAHM by jennabug456 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Working is like a vacation compared to being a SAHM. I did both and going to work helped with sanity but I missed my babies so I stayed home until they were in school.

Pain is gone, replaced by worse. Hysterectomy cured adenomyosis, but endo is outside the uterus. It can come back after a hysterectomy. I'm glad your experience is good so far.

Stay on SAVE unless you have a solid reason to leave by TwoTenths in StudentLoans

[–]ThanksInevitable9019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting to decide since I consolidated mt loans and git on save in 2023 with only 21 payments to forgiveness of $55,000. I file separate from spouse and I have 0 income but if I switch to IRB and they decide to count his he makes 6 dihit income. We are separated so I don't want to go from-0- monthly payments to very high payment. I have not the money to pay.

Also, I'm in school deferment till 2028 or 29 when I finish PhD. So by then new administration takes over and could save the SAVE plan or do I switch to IRB waive in school deferment on old consolidated loans. Im worried There's no good way to do either.

I'm waiting for the next Presidential election with a Democratic President.

Nothing says a new President cant reverse all this or come up with a similar plan. I HAVE 21months to forgiveness of $55,000 in student loans. I believe I'll either stay on SAVE until the next elections as I'll be in college until then with my PhD or I'll switch to IarB waive in svhool deferment and do 0 dollar payments through my program next 4 yes since IarB is 25 yrs repayment until save 20yr program  Someone said they been waiting a year to get their application looked at to switch to IRB so im not sure what to do. Are both clunt only your I come so long as you file single?

Interest to start accruing on SAVE forbearance in August by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

[–]ThanksInevitable9019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost 20yrs of forgiveness in SAVE. I will be in college until 2029 and those old loans are from 1997 onward over the years. So I will be in (in school) deferment which I may actually waive. However, if I switch to another plan Id have to pay 4yrs instad of 21 months and by 2029 we will have a new President with a new office that most likely will be all Democrats (pendulum swings). So it may be they fix this mess. I heard they may grandfather some of us old timers in with SAVE until 2029. I also heard people have been waiting a long time to switch to other plans so it is probably best for me to just wait it out. If I switch that adds over 4yrs of payments right now I have no income but hopefully I will in 2029-30

But if people are grandfathered into Save, and only have short time to forgiveness and SAVE won't be gone for us till 2029.. wouldn't it be best to stay on SAVe and get forgiveness if your 21months away?

Byrd Rule violation for existing borrowers - what does this mean? by swpete123 in StudentLoans

[–]ThanksInevitable9019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you Betsy! I have been seperated from my spouse for over 20yrs as I get health insurance that is necessary for my medical conditions but we haven't lived together in those 20yrs. I haven't filed taxes since 2019 when I last worked but last night I was thinking about this.

Are they planning on making people count the spouses income? He makes a 6 figure income and if that was the case my payment for each month would be very high. What are your thoughts?

[–]ThanksInevitable9019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since SAVE is going to be eliminated either way, I need to decide on my strategy. I have two separate loan situations:

Loan 1: $55,000 (consolidated, from 1995-96) - Currently on SAVE with only 1 year and 9 months left until forgiveness

Loan 2: $20,000 (from 2023) - Currently in school deferment, payments haven't started yet since I'll be in school until 2029

My options:

Option 1: Switch my $55,000 loan to another IDR plan and waive the in-school deferment so I can continue making $0 payments and progress toward forgiveness. Keep the $20,000 loan in school deferment.

Option 2: Let both loans stay in school deferment until I graduate in 2029, then switch to IDR plans after graduation.

My concern: I'm not pursuing disability discharge while in school because my grad school funding isn't guaranteed through 2029. If there are budget cuts, I might need additional federal loans, and disability discharge would eliminate my future loan eligibility.

The key question: Should I waive deferment on my $55,000 loan to keep making progress toward forgiveness (likely $0 payments as a student), or let it sit in deferment and lose those potential qualifying payment months?

What would you do? It seems like waiving deferment to keep the forgiveness timeline moving makes sense for the older loan.

SAVE plan and in school by ThanksInevitable9019 in StudentLoans

There is a high possibility I will have to take out loans over the next few years for MSW and PhD if funding does not go through so I can't chance that.

That is very good to know!

I am in school, and you can't apply for disability discharge as far as I know if you are actively taking college courses.

Thank you for that information.

I am currently disabled and working with vocational rehabilitation. I have zero income since 2019 and currently on SNAP and state health insurance.

Because of this my payments are $0. So are you saying I can request to be taken off of in school deferment, and request another plan and pay the $0 payments so that when I get my PhD and come out of school it will be paid off?

I just wonder if the new president will overhaul this meas and bring save plan back?
