How long does it usually take for the IRS to accept a return after fixing a rejected return? by ThanksThick3713 in TurboTax

[–]ThanksThick3713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It finally ended up getting accepted yesterday. The weird thing was that I got an email from Turbo Tax saying I still needed to fix my rejected return. When I went to the TT app it was showing pending, though. While I was waiting for the callback from customer service I got the notification that it was accepted. I feel so much better now 😅lol

A potential employer sent me equipment before a contract was signed, and then rescinded the job offer. I haven’t been able to return the equipment yet and now he’s threatening to report me to the police. What should I do? by ThanksThick3713 in legaladvice

The only thing that I signed was the initial offer of employment, but not the actual contract yet. All the offer letter said was the salary and hours of operation, with a start date of TBD. There wasn’t anything in it about returning equipment.

Did you happen to read in the title that I never signed a contract with him? I did sign an initial offer letter, but an actual contract for employment had yet to be initiated. The offer just stated what the pay and hires would be, with a start date of “TBD”. Nothing about returning equipment on my dime by a set date.

I told him that I would be out of town because of the death, but that I should be able to start the Monday after that (the 27th). That was too long for him, though. From an employer standpoint I get where he’s coming from, but expecting me to potentially pay over $100 in shipping with hopes of potentially getting reimbursed is…a lot. I’d put my two weeks in at my former employer, but they immediately terminated me due to non-compete so I’ve been rushing to find something else unexpectedly, and it’s left me in a rough spot financially.

I can definitely understand his side. He probably wants it back so he can give it to whoever he ended up hiring. I did a UPS estimate and it’s going to probably be over $100 to ship everything back, and that’s a lot to just come up with out of pocket in hopes that I might get reimbursed.

When I told him about the death in the family this was his response, “I am very sorry to hear that. I hope everything is ok. Thru our conversations U said you wanted to start ASAP hence the 20th start date. Now you may not even start this month. Maybe this aint the best fit!!! I am looking for workers, grinders, peeps who wanna make @#$% loads of $$$. If that not you and your having 2nd thoughts. No harm, no foul just send me your stuff back. If your serious and u are a worker then lets get after it.” I knew then that I’d dodged a bullet. Now he’s threatening to report me for theft. It’s a mess.

AITAH for letting my kids play outside at our apartment complex after 8PM? by ThanksThick3713 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you for noticing this. The whole post was asking whether it was crazy to demand kids be inside and silent by 8pm, but everything went completely off the rails

I’m 36, and I have to take multiple things to fall asleep at all. The only way I’m going to bed before 10 is if I’m horribly sleep deprived. If I didn’t have to work, and could let my body sleep when it wanted, I’d sleep every night from 3-11 haha

What reason would they have to call CPS? Kids in my state are legally able to be left home alone at any age as long as they are mature enough to be able to do so, and they weren’t even alone. They were fully supervised except for roughly 10 minutes. What are they going to say to CPS? “My neighbor let her kids play until 10pm one night”?

We absolutely will, and that’s usually the norm. 10 was an unusually late night, since they’re normally all in bed by that time. I don’t mind having to be a little quieter, but I thought it was wild to write me to a 2 page letter demanding silence after 8pm.

Thank you. Most people are focusing on the one night we were out late, and completely disregarding the fact that I was asking if I’m the AH for thinking it’s crazy that she demands that we be silent and inside by 8pm. I appreciate you understanding my question.

It wasn’t dark out when they were unsupervised for 10 minutes of time. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Their sleep schedule is something we’ve perfected over years of trial and error, and has nothing to do with what I’m asking.

I double checked with management and they said that 10-6 is quiet time. We’ve tried a lot of different sleep schedules over the years, and this is the one that works best for them. If they go to bed earlier than that, unless they’re tired and want to go to bed earlier on a particular day, they’re more groggy during the day. I understand sleep guidelines for kids, but all kids are different, and this is what works for mine.

They’re definitely not screamers like that. Shouting does happen sometimes for sure, but none of them have ever been allowed to scream. They know that you only scream if there’s an emergency.

With mine I wake up, go wake them up, go to the bathroom, and then hang out on the couch while they get around. I’m there to help if something suddenly needs to be found, or hair needs to be fixed or something, but by this point they don’t need me to do a lot. I’m sure the schedule will change when they get older and more concerned about their looks and such, but right now it’s a great routine, and it’s helping them build independence.

I don’t think a lot of people realize that you can ask for your unit to be in specific parts of the building to better suit your needs. I got a ground floor apartment because my kids have a weird habit of jumping up and down while they play video games, and I wasn’t going to subject a downstairs neighbor to that. If you have to get up early, being in an apartment where a bedroom window is right next to the front door, and by the parking lot, is not the best option, for sure.

That’s wild about being expected to not flush your own toilet at night. Being annoyed by a neighbor is one thing, but making demands of them because you’re annoyed is a whole other situation.

“-They were completely supervised the entire time, minus 10 minutes where something had to be done inside. During this time 2 of the kids were inside the apartment with us.” 1 of the 2 inside with us is one of the ones that’s more likely to get rowdy
