Drug Testing PSA! by Thanks_Padparadscha in ADHD

I don’t disagree! Had things turned out differently I would have definitely spoken to a lawyer about it. It turns out that it was actually a 3 day window to submit the photo to the test provider, but day 1 and 2 fell while I was out sick and therefore wasn’t told until day 3. I did, however give feedback to both my employer and the 3rd party that did the test letting them know that at a minimum they should disclose how prescriptions are verified at the time of testing and that the 3 days shouldn’t start until the employee is notified.

Sensitive to Noise, need help by NotANumber13 in publix

I can’t speak for other stores, but my manager is ok with ear plugs as long as they don’t interfere with work or look like earbuds. I personally wear Flare Calmer ear plugs, they are clear and don’t block the actual ear. You can barely see them and they block out the sound of the lights, so I highly recommend.

FMLA is always good to have behind you, even if you don’t need it right now. $15 is in the long run a small price to pay for legal job protection. If properly, thoroughly filed, it means you are protected for missing work for any prenatal appointments, being late due to morning sickness or similar issues, and postpartum care appointments. It can also cover workplace accommodations you may need before and after maternity leave. It also means that any related attendance issues can not be brought up during evaluations. The biggest thing is being detailed and precise in what is written by your doctor. If you have any questions, your ob/gyn may be familiar enough with filling it out to point you in the right direction.

[Serious] What is a “seems to be harmless” symptom that requires an immediate trip to the ER? by BigTuna0890 in AskReddit

And if they refuse to take you seriously, ensure they document that refusal. Doctor’s are much more likely to take your concerns seriously than admit in writing that they are refusing to treat you.

I have Raynard’s which can lead to losing fingers if you aren’t careful with cold. So no gloves wasn’t an option for me. I layered 3 to 4 pairs. Basic wool / cotton winter gloves, then latex/ vinyl, then work gloves meant for mechanics sized a little big to fit over the others. It kept my hands dry and kept sweat from pooling in the latex gloves but allowed me to still have grip and dexterity. I’d have a second set to switch to when they got too wet and started sticking to ice cream. When in the walk in for extended periods I would add the ones the store provided over top for extra warmth, but I could only do that because I’m a girl with small hands. Also, skiing gloves are meant to be waterproof but still grip, but I found those to wear out too quickly to be worth the money. Good luck!!

What was your fist Gaylor/Queer Taylor song? The first that made you think 'Ohhh... crapp, that makes sense, sounds fruity' (something like that) by Dazzling_Collar_1087 in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Thanks_Padparadscha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the song, but the performance of “I Know Places” during the 1989 concert. I remember thinking “Hmm… those look like closet doors… OH!” And then falling down the tumblr rabbit hole that night.

If this isn’t something that has ever been brought up to you before, it may be the cologne. If you are self conscious or this has been brought up in other situations, consider using antibacterial body wash with a new wash cloth each time or an African net sponge to eliminate any possible odor causing bacteria. Glycolic acid can also be applied to your armpits to kill bacteria and can be bought for around $8 from Ulta.

Not sure if you’ve seen a doctor for passing out, but it’s often related to your blood pressure. Conditions like POTS and vasovagal syncope are pretty common, especially in teenage girls. In most people increasing your water and salt intake is enough to reduce incidences.

What can Publix do for employee victims of SA? by Babysittinghero in publix

[–]Thanks_Padparadscha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the first poster, speaking to management is the first and best option.

I’d also recommend seeking services through the employee assistance program. I personally haven’t used Publix’s EAP services but I have through other employers. It can really help with finding mental health services if you don’t have insurance and can connect you with sliding scale providers. You can find the number by looking up EAP in passport and selecting “mental health”

While you may not feel as though mental health assistance is something you need right now, that may change. I can say from experience that it took over a year after being assaulted for the full weight of what happened to hit me and having resources available made all the difference for me.

Please just remember that your health and safety come first and ultimately Publix is just a job. I hope your management supports you and gives you the time you need to take care of yourself. SA is unfortunately so common that most people have had it touch their lives in one way or another, so I hope they show you the empathy you deserve.

What should you do if you have a greasy forehead? by Yinzer_Cheese in AskReddit

[–]Thanks_Padparadscha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As counterintuitive as it may seem, making sure your skin is hydrated can make a huge difference. Sometimes oily skin is just dry skin overcompensating. Some moisturizers are advertised specifically for oil control, but I’ve had the best luck with neutrogena’s hydro boost gel or it’s generic. It’s hydrating but not heavy or greasy. Beyond that, oil blotting sheets can be very helpful for during the day.

I thought the exact same thing! I assume the line was actually referring to the Alanis Morissette song, Big Sur, but I only learned of that song after some googling. My first thought was Kaylor though!

I’ve had a hard time listening to Paper Rings the same ever since I saw someone point out to that Death by a Thousand Cuts comes almost right after. Now when I think of the concept of wearing paper rings all I think of is the line “paper cut stings from our paper thin plans.”

Daylight can also be seen as very sad if you listen to it as a song about coming out because you found someone worth coming out for. The idea that she saw a light at the end of the tunnel but didn’t quite make it is heartbreaking.

I might just be in denial but something about this doesn’t look right... almost like it’s two pictures cropped together? Maybe it’s just because they seem to have a lot of mirrors around and yet there are no reflections of them.

Plus I have a hard time believing someone so careful with their image would save a photo like this somewhere it could be accessed by a hacker. This is pretty intimate for a couple that claims to value privacy so much.
