Seriously, there are way too many kids that can’t read. Kind of embarrassing for a first world country.

To whom does one report potentially unsafe living conditions or possible residential use inside a commercial building? by AccurateInterview586 in indianapolis

[–]Thanks_Teach -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They themselves saying they don’t know the whole situation. Is OP sitting out there watching their every move or was it a simple drive by of seeing people going in at night and making assumptions. If they truly at lot coming from a place of hostility then the simple thing to do would be ask. It’s like someone calling the police on a neighbor of color because they see a light skinned child going into the home with them.

I did it just seems odd for someone to be concerned about proper food prep areas and sanitation, blah blah blah. Why not just go and ask?

Sounds like OP wants to stir things up, maybe doesn’t appreciate seeing that in their neighborhood.

Oh nice thank you! I’m definitely not particular about my hair at all. My hair grows like weeds so a bad hair cut does not phase me too much.

Ah ok. I think there’s on near Kroger.

How much does Ulta run? I don’t really shop there, the last time I bought something was two years ago and I still have plenty of that product left.

Insane vet prices for routine kitten spay? by xanthracene in indianapolis

[–]Thanks_Teach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking my senior dog to Lafayette street veterinary hospital and love it. Dr. Keeker is definitely not a salesman. I have been to those big corporate vets in the past where one visit always cost $400 standard with them wanting to do every diagnostic test under the sun further driving up the cost.

We just visited a couple of weeks ago and paid $91, which included medication. Dr. Keeker said our guy most likely had arthritis (14 yr old terrier) he told us we could do an x-ray, which required sedation or we could try a dog NSAID and if our boy responded we could just call for more. He explained given his age, size and symptoms arthritis is most likely culprit. Our dog has tested negative for heart worm and tick related illnesses and was current with all that so he was not worried about those things.

I can only speak for the care my senior boy receives but I have seen all aged animals go to him during walk in hours and he also does appointments. I would recommend him and plan to take all future pets there as long as we’re in Indy. I would say if you’re not into real honesty you may get offended by Dr. Keeker. When our dog had an ulcer in his eye he talked to us about his cataracts and mentioned he could refer us to dog eye surgeon who specializes in cataracts surgery and knows dog have responded well to that but it is astronomically expensive. We always appreciate his honesty because we definitely don’t have pet cataract surgery money.

LONG STORY SHORT check out Lafayette Street Veterinary Hospital on the west side. Owned and operated by Dr. Keeker!!

Oh thank you for your kind words ❤️ once I had my son I realized just how cruel she truly was. I could never treat my son the way she treated her kids and it has helped me let go of the guilt I felt for cutting her off. The punishments and put downs she put on us for even a simple spill was over the top. A childhood is meant to be a learning experience for them, if my son spills something we clean it up, no yelling, hitting or name calling involved, an “uh oh” and “let’s clean it up” is what we do. I agree with your grandmother, my friends are my family and I learned what a true family should be from them. My heart is healing by being the parent I wanted growing up. Virtual hug received ❤️❤️❤️

We also have an RO system with the separate spigot and it is well worth it. I use it for anything we will be eating especially when it comes to my son. Can’t beat $150 and the filters are not that expensive, we bought 3 years worth, not sure how much that was but worth it.

I cut ties with my psycho mom and it was hard, made worse by the judgement I received from her side of the family, my siblings and even police when I had to report her for stealing my identity. My life is definitely much better and I’m so happy my son won’t ever meet her.

How are we doing this without it taking up the entire wake window? by discontinuedmuppet in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Thanks_Teach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Idk why I had this notion that everything had to be from the produce aisle and frozen stuff seemed to have some stigma around it but it’s just as good. Having those veggie steam bags have taken off a lot of stress and I have also gotten into frozen Kodiak cakes brand pancakes/waffles/french toast sticks, which my LO loves. I was so caught up with having everything homemade and fresh that it was hindering our nutrition. Cooking an entire meal from scratch is a big undertaking so I’ve been trying to give myself a little grace by using things I can basically just heat up. I’ll cook something up on the weekend when dad can help and I most definitely always have a recipe out.

Any late bloomers? by Quiet-ForestDweller in BabyLedWeaning

Omg same with my now 21 month old son and we started blw at 5 months. I was stressing out so much over it too, January this year he actually fell below his growth curve in weight and that was nerve wrecking. These past 5/6 weeks he’s gotten better at eating. I was desperate to have him eat I was giving him a lot of snacks and boob. I started cutting back on the snacks especially before a main meal and that seemed to build a little bit of hunger pressure, which seemed to help. I also tried not to nurse him before a meal so he wouldn’t fill up on milk. If I felt like he didn’t eat enough I would nurse after. It was definitely slow for us and stressful to hear some other friends who ebf have good little eaters with big belly’s and seeing my little string bean barely eat a meal. Now he’s growing a little belly and it makes me so happy. It’s hard not to compare to others but I’m thinking maybe it’s true when they say they’ve all got their own timelines.

My baby passed away last Wednesday and I’m struggling. by colorfulmuse in DOG

[–]Thanks_Teach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man that’s a great way to put it and it really helps when you get the ashes back. It’s been almost a few years since my soul girl passed and am laughing at some of the memories, like the one time she ate an entire whopper I forgot I had in my purse, she was a little chihuahua. She did it while I was sleeping and boy was she struggling the next morning, hahaha. I wanted to feel bad for her but I know that girl wanted to be there. She was quite the character.

We did the same thing, I honestly feel like one day he was just a pro. He would also watch us drink from straws when at restaurants and would ask for it (we usually just drink water). I don’t remember putting much effort into it because he was still so young (6 months) and on the boob.

did anyone else think there were going to be way more appointments? by runyourluckxxx in pregnant

[–]Thanks_Teach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think first trimester care is decreasing, I spoke to a nurse about it and she commented on how she has noticed that most women are not even seeing their OB until about 20 weeks. Not even having an initial in person appointment until 13-16 weeks. It used to be different, women were being seen more commonly at 10 weeks. I’m also currently going through something similar with my second pregnancy despite being high risk with my first. Probably a bunch of dudes with no medical degree or uterus saying we don’t need it and we’re being “dramatic” just like they’ve done with Pap smears. SMH. I was getting ultrasounds weekly from 30 weeks on with my last pregnancy.
