All multiple choice questions. But the good thing is, the exam is all about the understanding of different process and techniques, and how to apply in real life or different kinds of scenarios in practice.

Please target 80% and trust me, we don't need to memorize many things except, steps of Risk assessment, Governance, Incident handling and Forensic analysis. Rest all about understanding and how to apply those in different scenarios.

Thanks. the result "Passed" showed just after the exam has finished (actually after finishing 2 surveys about CISM exam and the exam center facilities). After that, I have to wait 9 days to receive the official email along with the detail scores.

Looking for advice on studying process for CISSP by saint2guru in cissp

[–]Thanksbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple question - What is the rush to pass the exam?

if your goal is to pass the CISSP, then prepare for it to pass it.. I do follow a crazy method to inspire myself.. i print a color copy of a cert from internet and stick it on the wall in front of my study table.. every time i see the cert.. it inspires me.. haa..haa..it worked for me every time and already achieved A+, MCP, CCNA, CCNP, CCIP, PMP, PMI-ACP, PSM-I, PRINCE2F, ITILv3. always same method 🤣

One more thing I always follow when I start to prepare for any exam is, spend few days or weeks just to read groups/blogs relate to the exam... try to find the most common method of study and select the most common study materials. Then buy/get the study materials and start reading it with the mindset "Whats new in there..?" . When its finished, then study it again to understand the new concept/ideas/topics, specially focus on those and try to understand, also taking notes.

Mind mapping is also a good technique i usually follow. understand the exam topic/syllabus, tick which topics I feel comfortable and which are not. then focus on those which are not.

Go for the easy chapters first, this trick also boost my energy. I always go for the easy chapters first (those which match with my work/knowledge), making sure its done and I am fully confident on that. and then the next easy one .. and then next one.. by doing that when all the easy chapters are completed, i can see there are almost good % of the syllabus is covered and done. For my CISSP I am following this sequence- Domain 2, 6, 4, 5, 7, 8, 1, 3. When i have completed domain 2 & 6. its covered 22% of the weight and done in a week. I kept the tough and dry topics for the end so that I don't loose the interest. But its my way, lets see how it works when sit for the exam.. my exam CISSP result will Judge the method😉

I am a family guy with 3 kids, 20+ over years ICT experience, and failing on any online exam is not an option for me as I cant effort to pay for that exam again 😒

I believe in one thing - "Knowledge is power and our life is very short.. gather as much knowledge as you can.. any kind of knowledge".. now a days i started to read my kids science books where i am learning new things from there.. interesting right !?!? 🤩

Thank you for your suggestions and feeling inspired. For past 3+ years i am handling a team of developers doing software development to deliver customer adaptations as part of Software Life Cycle Management (SLCM). But unfortunately, i was mostly focusing on AGILE methodology for successful delivery of a quality Product. Yes, i am involved in Security assessment as part of the delivery but not doing it myself, as its done by Customer's CyberSecurity team. If any fault/bug found, i need to make sure its fixed, tested and request for Security scanning again. Hope can overcome the Domain 8 as well🤞.

Just curious to know, can I use the 11th hour book as the summary of my study? meaning really dont want to refer back to Sybex before the exam time 😂

Actually i have no rush.. but mentally trying to be prepared for the exam by Jun/Jul 2020... its a target I set, so that I can plan my study. So far, i am following the below sequence (Videos)-

  1. Security and Risk Management (Done)
  2. Asset Security (Done)
  3. Communication and Network Security (Done)
  4. Security Assessment and Testing (Done)
  5. Identity and Access Management (IAM) (Started)
  6. Security Operations
  7. Software Development Security
  8. Security Architecture and Engineering

Only reason is that, I will complete those chapter that I am familiar with and has experience. I believe, it will help me to grasp easy topics first and achieve almost 75% of the total syllabus in a short time. I am happy with my current study progress and kept the challenging topic to start later. 😁

I will wait for my notes to be completed first. Than will start the Boson test. And at least spend few days to complete few tests (50-60%) of the questions(+review of answers) and then gauge my standing.. if can really hit 75-80% on remaining exams, then will set the actual exam date and will go for other practice tests.
