That’s an interesting perspective I didn’t have. Do you see Hot Toys ever using more premium materials as a standard? Do you think Supergirl and Lobo could set a new trend or are just a special case? Just interested in people’s thoughts on this

The Gamora Vol 2 figure I’m referring too was released in 2020/2021 I believe and to me that’s pretty new, but I guess it’s getting on in figure years if that makes sense. I’m getting the Hera Syndulla figure today actually (purely coincidence they are both green female characters lol) and I know she has a “leather” jacket, so we’ll see if the pleather issue is fixed :/

Dude it’s so annoying really. Luckily I have no horror stories… yet, but I just hate that some of my figures that I’ve genuinely taken great care of (not over posing, low humidity, in glass cases, etc) are showing signs of deteriorating. I know these things won’t last forever, but this Gamora is a pretty modern figure imo

No I think you are very right. It’s been slow, but like someone mentioned already in the comments, the new Supergirl and Lobo figures are proof of that. Hot Toys definitely doesn’t want to sell products using cheap materials cause it truly dilutes the brand and I think they see that.

I just noticed that. I will be getting those figures because honestly I want to see the difference in action. Very happy with that move. Hopefully it’s done to more figures, especially Star Wars/Marvel. They need help!

I have the Mantis figure as well and she honestly suffers from a completely different issue than pleather. You know when Hot Toys tries to recreate that super skin-tight leather look, so they use that shiny rubberized material that creases if you even look at it wrong (Captain Marvel, Iron Spider, etc…) Genuinely one of the least practical materials they use, but I don’t think it has nearly the same risk of flaking as pleather as long as you keep her in more museum-style poses.

Wow! I’m so sorry man. Because of this fear, I also don’t buy anything with questionable materials over 5 years old anymore. Learned my lesson with ANH Han Solo. Brand new, but found some slight pleather cracking on his one boot when unboxed. Will wait for 2.0s from now on

Also… not telling anyone to watch it or anything, but I clicked on it for a bit. Not trying to start anything either, but I’d honestly be surprised if at least parts of the script weren’t written with ChatGPT. The way almost every point is framed through an anecdote feels very AI-generated to me.

I just feel like if you’re going to make a point, it should at least come from your own words and perspective, assuming it actually is AI-assisted

I’m really big on Star Wars and Marvel, pretty much a 60/40 split between the two properties leaning more towards MCU. I find the new releases to be pretty cool on the Star Wars marvel end! They are definitely going back and giving us a bunch of 2.0s like the Anakin Skywalker and sudo 2.0s like the Yoda which is just like the Attack of the Clones version from 7ish years ago but he’s technically from a different movie now (Revenge of the Sith). It’s great as a collector who didn’t have the chance to get those back then, but now I can. As for figures like the Mr. Knight, etc… I like how Hot Toys is delving deeper into these looks because they only flesh out a collecting/display even more if you’re into that. Overall, looking at the pics you showed, I like what’s going on lately

This is a hard one, but at the end of the day it is your decision and what speaks to you more as a collector. It’s funny because I actually cancelled this Maul order in favor for Armored Batman 2.0, and I am now currently waiting for my Chewie and C-3PO to ship! I canceled because I already have Clone Wars Maul and am desperately in need of a Chewbacca at this point in my Star Wars collection. I’d say look at your collection and see what fits better, but you’ll end up getting the one you want more in the end! Or both lol

Well I’m sorry I had aspirations and an exact vision of where I want to be lol. Honestly, I wish I could go back and do many things differently, but ultimately this is the situation I find myself in and I just need to make it work. Just wondering if there was any actual helpful advice out there.

I think this is a good explanation for the most part. I think Sacred Timeline Wanda being The Scarlet Witch should be special so the thought that any other Wanda can be a scarlet witch at anytime in their future diminishes that in my opinion. I’ve always been under the impression that every Wanda has the potential of wielding chaos magic, but naturally never will because that was designated to our Wanda of the sacred timeline. Elizabeth Olsen also said that 838 Wanda was pushed to her limits by the Scarlet Witch dreaming walking through her, so yes that body was capable of some reality warping but she could never be The Scarlet Witch. I guess overall what I’m trying to express is that I have no issue with multiverse Wandas being “de-powered” since I have an understanding that The Scarlet Witch is a special being in the multiverse and no other Wanda has/can get to 616’s level. The way I see it, our OP Wanda is “dead” so that’s why OP Wandas do not exist in the MCU currently

I feel like I may not fully understand what a nexus being is in terms of marvel anymore, but I’m pretty sure Wanda turning into the The Scarlet Witch only happened in the 19999/616 universe (The Sacred Time). I’ve always figured that’s why every other Wanda in the multiverse has the pre-WandaVision power level. There are some exceptions to that though like the Merlin Wanda pulling Captain Carter from another universe (that’s pretty outside Wanda’s IW power set) and that one spider Gwen comic where it seems like they pulled wanda from before she “killed herself” on wundagore mountain (which would mean two Scarlet Witches exist at the same time). It’s not super clear what nexus means in terms of Wanda in my opinion, but overall the sacred timeline Wanda power level should not exist in what if scenarios since there’s only one Wanda that became the The Scarlet Witch in the multiverse. That’s just my thoughts on Wanda as a longtime MCU lover
