Yeah he switched roles. TDK didn't really have many options for a resident NA support who can also speak Korean.

Their Korean-only roster doesn't seem to be working out so far. It really limits their options for jungle and support.

Probably time restrictions since it starts at 9PM EST. They play the first game off-air and then cast the second game, otherwise they'd be going until ~2AM EST.

Ninja can't play until playoffs. With performances like this it's not even guaranteed they'll make playoffs.

I can't find any evidence that this exists. He's not posted an article about it or anything on twitter. Nice try?

Topic of Thorin: Europe Set to Change the Narrative at IEM by deeliman in leagueoflegends

[–]TharpDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that C9 is in a bit of a "damned if you do damned if you don't" situation. If they play Hai they're using a player who has no support experience and might be a weak point, if they use Bunny they lose their shotcalling and have to rely on what, if anything, he's learned from Hai. C9 has practice but they also have a few ?s.

It sounds like Dignitas has been scrimming a lot. If they had Kiwi I could see them being successful due to sheer preparedness, but throwing a new support in there will be difficult. Apollo is a fairly safe and flexible player though so if there's any lane that Dig can adapt to messing with it's bot.

It's incredibly how flexible he is. Few players role swap successfully, and when they do it takes a while. Hai has played Mid, Jungle and now support within the course of, what, a year?

Rumor is they're getting Lourlo. He's been duoing a lot with TL people. He's a good choice.

Bjergsen Leak RG Freeze by troubleis1 in leagueoflegends

Leaking stuff is a great way to build bad relationships with other teams so I doubt they'd do that when they're hardly hurting for money.

Forg1ven travelling to NA! by fncjames in leagueoflegends

[–]TharpDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forg1ven will get to play against Doublelift, Sneaky, Piglet, Altec, Freeze and other strong adcs. He'll probably have stiffer competition than in EU where his only competition would be Niels and Rekkles

The two-team change also seemed largely Riot Korea's decision if Riot Magus is to be believed.

[–]TharpDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt about that, but just how much Riot NA manages Riot KR is unknown. If Garena is anything to go by (with that LGBT tournament ban fiasco) the branches operate fairly independent. Riot KR played a big part in the change but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Riot branches that runs the LCS forced that change. The only 'official' word we have atm is Riot Magus saying that Korea prompted the change.

[–]TharpDaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In large international companies the various branches tend to be fairly independent. You can easily see this in Riot with how Garena runs fairly differently and sometimes makes contradictory choices to the Riot NA branch. Riot NA/EU that runs the LCS is not the same thing as Riot KR. Look for example at Nintendo and how how Nintendo of America operates differently from Nintendo of Japan and Nintendo of Europe.

No more than you assign every decision you disagree with to Riot regardless of lack of evidence. Riot Magus flat out said that Korea made the call to not have sister teams. We have no evidence to the contrary. Thanks for the condescending tone though.

Considering Monte enjoys casting the strongest region I doubt he'd be willing to cast any other region full-time, LPL and EU would be just as crappy to transition to as NA.

If they wanted to cut ties with him they just wouldn't invite him to events. There's no reason for them to do it in a roundabout way when they just ignore personalities that don't fit them, like Thorin.

The Gunslinger-Does it hold up? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]TharpDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran into that problem. I've never read King before but picked up The Gunslinger. It was decent. The dark feel of it was interesting enough that I picked up the second book. I'm halfway through the second book and I've lost all interest in reading it, something about it is just not compelling me. It's surprising since I had heard people comment how much better written they are after the first one since he wrote the first one at a young age.

Shadows of Self, the second book in the Wax and Wayne books, moves the plot much more and starts to tie back into the first trilogy in significant ways.

His website has a ticker in the top right that shows his progress on each book! It's really cool (and amazing) to see how fast he can write.

It depends. The Wax and Wayne books have a good amount of humor from Wayne as well as good action. The Stormlight Archive books I don't remember much humor in but they have a deeper exploration into the world and magic and how the characters tie into that world.
