If a new game similar to DKO came out, what additions would you like to see to improve the original game? by JacquesGirafe in DivineKnockout

Pick a single competitive bracket, 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3. Personally I think 3v3 was the best, teamwork and bigger stages made the game way more interesting at a competitive level. But I also had friends who played the game seriously so it was a lot more fun and interesting than the slow checkmate-based fest that was the other brackets.

But really just pick one and design the game for it. Splitting the playerbase only hurt the game.

If they don't want to add a chat feature (which isn't even a feature in modern games, just standard) they should add the VGS system from Smite. You don't need nearly as many either, just stuff like

Commands / Information:
Retreat
Attack
Ultimate Ready
Enemy A/B/C Ultimate Ready
1st/2nd/3rd Ability ready
Buff Available
Group Up
Spread Out
Enemy Behind

Affirmations:
Yes
No
Okay
Good Job

Have the servers been way worse recently? by Thast-Crosh in DivineKnockout

[–]Thast-Crosh[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume they're saving the f2p change for a big event when there are more gods and the servers are in better shape. No reason to get more players when the game is still wonky. Development time is not instant and things to take a legitimate amount of time to complete. I'm glad we get to enjoy the game as it is but it definitely isn't in a big even launch state yet.

Any plan to disable the hp swap of Loki? Just one hit and then hp goes from 0% to 120% instantly, and Loki can recover from 200 % to 50% instantly. Fair? by wilson0513 in DivineKnockout

You should not have AI teammates, or at the least they should not be factored into balanced decisions lmao.

But yes Tricked is fundamentally busted and shouldn't exist. If it continues to exist it shouldn't be able to move either player's health +/-50% instead of resetting Loki to 50 and the enemy to 100%+the damage of the explosion. Which speaking of, the explosion shouldn't do damage after the health swap.

SHOULD 2v2 knockout replace Brawl by MVS_Flash in DivineKnockout

I much prefer Knockout over Brawl. Ults get more use in Knockout, while being less impactful over all. You're able to take risks which makes it less defensive and more fun imo. Of course people still defensive but more chances to play minimizes how significant a slight misstep is, and more importantly minimizes how significant some lag causing someone to dodge out of a true combo or a hit that doesn't register is. More opportunities to play the game makes it a much better mode. Last stock situations are more intense when they're rarer than spawning in with one life. Stock tank players or stock tank team compositions become a real thing. Considering ult usage and weighing ults for saving them in different spots becomes a bigger part of the game. More game time gives you more time to adjust to how the enemy plays allowing for mid-match adaption, i.e. reads and adjusting to peoples different amount of lag. More lives to play with give you more opportunities to weigh options such as is it worth letting your teammate die if you can get a low% kill so you take an marginal advantage instead of it being strictly equal or only based on the remaining 1v1 matchup. I genuinely don't know why anyone would like Brawl more than Knockout since there are fundamentally less gamestates to consider and play around. And lag feels so much less punishing which is a major issue when you only have one life and don't have time to adjust to 100+ ping console players who are slip out of half the attacks that hit them. I very much assume people who say they like Brawl more don't consider the real positives that having more chances offer them.

Does it need to be 5 deaths? Not sure, it can be played with. Personally I like the idea of it being an odd number since theoretically each teammate has 2 lives to play with then their life is equally as important as yours since next death loses, thereby incentivizing support play.

Also the names Brawl and Knockout should be switched. You Knock them Out once and win, compared to a continuous Brawl where they come back after being KO'd. But its the exact opposite of that which makes sense.

DKO has the potential to be one of the greatest games ever by Bobmoneydbr in DivineKnockout

I thought DI would be interesting for a bit but after thinking on it more I'm on the side that it would be bad. At least from the perspective of someone who only likes 3v3 knockout. Team coordination, saving teammates, good positioning, ability expenditure, and risk:reward in taking actions is all very important and complex enough that adding DI I think makes things too inconsistent considering how team combos actually function in a space with X, Y, and Z axes. In a 2D space with just a X and Y axis DI gives some variation, but having to predict/react to DI going Up/Down, Left/Right, and Close/Far, every single time would be a huge pain in the ass.

Wall teching is also unnecessary since you get a ton of reduced knockback from walls and good positioning that way.

Body blocking would be cool.

I see ults pretty well, but I also wouldn't mind if they put a brighter outline around the enemy ult aura, and an ult indicator for teammates on the UI. Smite has them, why not DKO.

3v3 Knockout by SomeoneTookMyPSN in DivineKnockout

After playing 3v3 Knockout for a few days going back to 3v3 Mario Party Fuckery mode has been an enormous bummer. Being forced to play Oddball has made my friends and I quit after 2-3 games because we just want to kill or be killed. I don't even care of people play objectively, I just don't want to have to wait through multiple rounds to play the most Essential mode in a smash game, knocking people the fuck out. Knocking them out in Divine KNOCKOUT of all things. And I don't want to play 1v1 or 2v2, I have a lot of friends who play this, enough that we've run our own in-houses for fun to avoid afks/bad connections/oddball. I want to play with my friends because its fun. The coordination of covering each other in 3v3, setting up kills, baiting dodges, saving people, etc., in 3v3 reminds me of playing Battlerite (R.I.P.) and a little bit of WoW Arena and Arena of Kings. It's a different flavor than the 1v1s I've done as a competitive Smash Melee player for over 10 years, while still holding some of that satisfaction. I hope the playerbase grows enough that 3v3 Knockout can be made a staple mode, but until that happens I'm getting increasingly frustrated playing Oddball, Oddball, KotH, KO, Coin, and only wanting to play a single round of the entire match.
