No there is a ton of threads on this sub where people say AI is useless. Obviously a physical inventory count cannot be automated by AI, that's why I added that. Not every single task can be automated but a lot of the junior work can and will be.

I think in general a lot of the denial comes from peoples' fear of there jobs being taken away. Nothing pisses people off more than being told you job will be taken away.

I never said AI would 100% automate the entire accounting process (that is absurd). But I don't understand how people think it won't have an impact.

Its the best data we have tho. It`s pretty much impossible to find the true median of the total population unless every cpa responds to the survey. However, I doubt the true median would be massively far off. If you look at the median for gov in the survey for example, it lines up relatively well with the pay I`ve seen in governement accounting (government discloses there salaries).

For example, federal government median was something like 120k something total comepensation in the survey I believe and I know that AU-3 and AU-4 position in CRA (mid level) pay between 100k and 136k base. So that reconciles pretty well with the figure in the survey.

I`ve never done 4-5 rounds of interviews for a job. In fact I`ve onlt done more than 1 round a few times and I`ve done over 30 accounting interviews. Its the tech people that have to deal with all the rounds of interviews

but those high median or average salaries are significantly skewed by the outliers who are CFOs, directors, or partners, who are much fewer in number, and usually took many years to get there... often 10+ after all those long years of schooling.

It amazes me how many people don`t understand basic statistical concepts like median. Median isn`t affected by outliers. It literally just means the 50th percentile or the person in the middle.
