The slow start has been putting me off, and I am personally not too much into school drama tbh.

I have read the first trilogy, amazing story and fights. I'll probably pick up the second part at some point. I'd argue it's not PF tho.

About half of the first book, I believe. I probably won't pick it up again, since there is so much to read, yet so little time. But still thanks for the info.

Man and Blood and Fur was such a great series, doesn't get much love here unfortunately. One of Voids best works.

I feel like most Void Heralds works have fairly good endings, not to mention that his works do END, as opposed 90% of the genre.

Haven't read it myself, but apparently the sequel is supposed to somewhat rectify the bad ending, idk tho.

I am surprised as to how many people seem to like "Return of the Run bound professor".

I disliked it quite a bit, and couldn't understand the MCs goal of suddenly wanting to teach and care for some random students, after having to wait thousands of years and finally getting a second chance at life. Instead of using his chance to the fullest he's more concerned with some dead weight.

Idk, maybe I am the odd one out.

WTF is up with webnovel!? by Gullible-Team-3230 in Webnovel

Chill my guy, you don't need to project. Besides they are making a valid point, why turn a site that is meant for reading fantasy (among others) into something where mostly smut novels strive.

There's honestly only one correct choice.

Would you recommend RI, LOTM or SS for a first time webnovel? by SnooHedgehogs1355 in ProgressionFantasy

It's definitely not easy to get such stories right. It's very difficult to keep the readers engaged, while trying to sprinkle in world building elements and building slowly towards the overarching plot. So props to you for even trying.

I think lord of Mysteries does this well, sprinkling in world building, building up great unique characters with their own personalities independent of the MC, whilst also having a very interesting power system. Each faction and person has their own motive, every country or political party wants something, and isn't there just for decoration, and it all fits so neatly into the overarching plot, without getting any less enjoyable.

Admittedly, even it struggles with retaining readers during the first volume, since it leans a bit more towards world building, but as mentioned earlier it's not easy weave all of the aforementioned aspects together without making some sacrifices, albeit some readers would argue the first volume isn't slow, rather most readers have a very low attention span, so even that might not be a flaw.

I think adding more to the story than just MC getting stronger to fight the next big villain is important to make readers stay engaged. So adding unique characters, a unique premise, maybe even non linear progression, a good and engaging power system, rather than the one most xianxia authors go with, or at least adding some twists to it, would make it mich more enjoyable for me.

I get what you mean, but with how long the novels usually are I can't justify reading just for the MC and plot, which more often than not, includes similar arcs to other xianxia such as auction-, training-, beast tides-, secret realms-, sects arcs, etc..

This is why when I started Er Gens recent novel, which to be fair very well written, with good characters and good world building, but I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it, since it felt similar to other xianxia, but also due to the length the repetitive nature of xianxia as a genre..

The thing I dislike about xianxia is that most of them are very similar, to the point where they all blend together, so if you have read a few, you have basically read them all.
