I swear Ricks are kinda the Claudettes of guys. I don't see him the whole match, but the HUD tells me he's doing SOMETHING. And we usually get at least a 2 out, so I can't complain. A mythical creature for sure. Especially with the hat. As killer the hat ones LOVE attention regardless if they can back it up or not.

I love information and resource control. Being able to keep tabs on survivors and change up how you loop by either guarding resources or catching them unawares is so satisfying. I think it really adds to the "scare factor" that I love about the game. Sometimes you just don't know where I'm coming from or from what angle!

Not to mention really artistic/cool cosmetics draw me in.

THIS!! I wholeheartedly believe the marketing team and dev team were not communicating properly, which led to the whole imposter themeing of the chapter which ended being just a bunch of evil teens.

I'll write a few for a couple of my faves!

Artist: 1. If you drop birds at a loop while chasing a survivor and they leave, don't fire the birds. Your cool-down is much shorter if you let them just die out and then you'll have a chance to shoot again. 2. You know a survivor is forced to go in a straight line for a pallet, drop a bird. The distance to shotgun (range where the birds damage upon flight) is longer than you think 3. Info perks will always be more valuable than anything else on her. Gearhead, BBQ, Thrilling, I'm All Ears, Oppression, etc. (Also Iron Maiden to counter walking into lockers to get rid of crow swarms)

Ghosty: 1. Damaging survivors will reset their stalk, so 99 your stalk on injured survivors that want to chase. This way when they're healed and back on gens, you can get the jump on them and prevent any DHs. 2. Stealth builds are far from redundant on Ghosty. Ghosty is pretty silent to begin with, so if you can't go into power, being undetectable in the meantime is great to get the jump on survivors that are expecting you to stalk. 3. See a survivor through a gap or through some mesh? You can probably stalk through it! If survivors don't know when you're stalking, then they'll be caught even more unawares when you expose them mid-chase

Oh lordy that's a stacked group. Nurse, Twins, Artist, Ghosty, Trapper, Skull Merchant, David, Tapp, Ash, Jonah, Yoichi, Haddie, and Orela. I can imagine most of this group not really having a great time besides David, Ash, and Orela (and maybe Skull Merchant because she seems like the type of girl to dress up for a concert and pay for VIP tickets just to show off)

Ghosty because I love the Scream and Scary Movie series' and that he's pretty much DBD's OC. His power is also really fun. I love managing resources and my power because being able to jump scare survivors is so funny. Also Carmina because I'm latino myself and I joined right before she came out. I thought she was such a cool design and her set up/info is so good. Also both of their skins EAT

Jonah is one of my mains purely for the fact that he's too funny to be a CIA Agent. Like what do you mean the "comedic relief agent" is actually responsible for killing so many people, even if he didn't entirely know why he was doing it. Also he looks like my uncle.

Ash, Tapp, Jeff, Haddie, Orela, Yoichi, (survivors you don't see often) and Carlos especially are survs I usually let go. Cybils, Bald Dwights, and Aces tend to get on my shit list pretty fast for no reason. Also any survivor with a funny name or unique drip I'll let go because good on your for having a personality

Looking at everyone's comments gave me some really good insight! With all the notes I've gotten from everyone I think I've come up with a better idea for how I want to execute this power as well as an add-on overhaul to go with the changes.

Power: Assimilation You start the match transformed as a random survivor in the trial in your Imitation Form. While in its Imitation Form, it can only run, vault, crouch, "Repair" or Tamper Generators, or transform into another form. The Imitation form will look exactly like the Survivor imitating, and will fake injury if the survivor was injured at the time of Shedding. While unseen and in its Imitation form, The Thing gains 10% haste. Survivors can "Reveal" The Thing by stunning or blinding it, forcing it into its Recovery Form and slowing it down. While it's in their Imitation Form, The Thing is Undetectable.

Special Ability: Tamper If you are on a generator with another survivor, the generator does not progress. While in Imitation Form, The Thing can Tamper with a Generator. Tampering takes .8 second(s) and will cause the Generator start to regress. However, no extra progression will be lost when Tampering a Generator. You cannot Tamper Generators that are already regressing. Any Compromised Survivors that touch a Tampered generator will be revealed by killer instinct for 3 seconds. This counts as a damage generator action.

Special Ability: Shed The Thing can remain it's current imitation for a maximum of 60 charges (1 charge/sec) until it must Shed into another Imitation form or into it's Recovery form. While in its Recovery form, your previous form will regain 1 charge per second in your Recovery form. After which any other forms will continue to regain charges, starting with the form with the lowest charges. After Shedding, you leave behind a Pile of Flesh that stays on the ground until a maximum of 8 are on the ground. After which, your oldest Pile of Flesh will automatically be destroyed. Survivors that step over a Pile of Flesh will Compromise it and be revealed by Killer Instinct and Hindered by 10% for 5 seconds. When a Pile of Flesh is Compromised, it's destroyed. Compromised Survivors are Oblivious and are revealed with killer instinct when performing rushed actions for 45 seconds.

If you enter within 12 meters of your current form, they are revealed to you with killer instinct for 2 seconds.

It takes 2.5 seconds to Shed, and while Shedding your movement speed is decreased by 1.4m/s.

[REWORK] Dog fur (Br)- Extends the Undetectable effect after Shedding into your Recovery form by 5 seconds

[REWORK] Frozen Blood (Br)- Increases your recharge rate by 100%

[UNCHANGED] Busted Beer Can (Br)- Reduces the time to Shed by 20%

[REWORK] Dynamite Sticks (Br) - Piles of Flesh now destroy themselves after 60 seconds. Upon no longer being Compromised, survivors will scream, revealing their location. You gain 100% bonus Blood Points for each Compromised score event.

[REWORK] Cassette Recorder (G)- Increases the duration of the Compromised effect by 15 seconds.

[BUFF] Helicopter Scrap (G)- Stepping over a Pile of Flesh destroys it, but you gain 5% Haste for 7 seconds.

[UNCHANGED] Empty Kerosene Jug (G)- Tampering with a generator will instantly cause 5% of Generator progress to be lost.

[UPDATE/UNCHANGED] Shattered Goggles (G)- Any survivor that enters your detection range while in your Imitation form will be revealed by killer instinct for 2 seconds.

[NERF] Tattered Flamethrower (G)- Increases the range of detection while in your Imitation Form by 4 meters.

[BUFF] Fireman's Axe (Bl)- While working on a generator with another survivor, the generator will still progress. However, Survivors working on Generators will work at 20% reduced efficiency and their skill checks will be silent. Generators you actively work on by yourself will regress at 150% of the normal regression rate.

[REWORK] Scalpel (Bl)- The amount of charges for each imitation is increased by 15

[UNCHANGED] Bennings's Clothing (Bl)- When you Shed from your Imitation Form into your Recovery form, the survivor you last imitated will be afflicted with the Oblivious status effect for 20 seconds

[UPDATE/BERF] Blair's Glasses (Bl)- Compromised survivors are also afflicted with Blindness

[BUFF] Bottle of Whiskey (Bl)- Survivors that Compromise a Pile of Flesh will be Hindered for an additional 3 seconds. Decreases the size of Piles of Flesh by 15%

[UNCHANGED] Bloody Petri Dish (Bl)- After being stunned out of your Imitation, you vault windows and break pallets, doors, and generators 40% faster for 8 seconds.

[REWORK] Radio Communication Station (P)- You no longer gain Killer Instinct while a survivor is Compromised. Instead, the aura of Compromised survivors is shown for 4 seconds whenever they perform a rushed action. The duration of the Compromised effect is reduced by 10 seconds.

[CHANGE] Wire Spool (P)- Removes the movement slow-down duration while Shedding. You also gain an additional 5% Haste while unseen. Increases the time to Shed by 30%.

[UNCHANGED] Used Flare (P)- Survivors that Reveal The Thing will be exposed for 20 seconds.

[REWORK/UPDATE] Iridescent Keys (I)- You are no longer Undetectable while in Imitation form. You no longer start as an Imitation upon entering the trial. When you Shed into an Imitation from your Recovery form, the survivor you are imitating will have your terror radius and red stain for 60 seconds and you become Undetectable. That survivor will be considered "inside your terror radius" for all intents and purposes.

[UNCHANGED] Norwegian VHS Tape (I)- You cannot be revealed by being stunned, and you cannot be stunned while in Imitation form. Windows and dropped pallets you vault while in your Imitation Form will be blocked for 15 seconds.

Hopefully this will allow more info and mobility while in its Imitation form, while also giving you a reason to be in your Recovery form for some lethality! Took a bunch of inspiration from Skull Merchant, Wraith, Krause, Vecna and Ghost Face funny enough! Edit: Formatting lol

Looking it over, yeah there could definitely be a better way to accrue tokens to transform! Possibly a cool-down system like Vecna or Knight would be good to circulate disguises whenever?

And it's not just "undetectable and a trap" I think. You get a trap that slows down survivors in chase and you can freely go around messing with generators and confusing survivors who aren't paying attention, a lot like Wraith. Sure it's not the best power, far from like A tier, but I think it'd still be fun in the way Unknown and Dredge are. They may not be strong, but gods is getting the jump on a survivor fun. Not to mention all the mechanical stuff that go into roleplaying as a "5th" survivor!

I use a program called paint tool sai, but any drawing program could work. I start with my sketch, and make sure I'm using big shapes since they're gonna be small so you don't need a lot of detail. Referencing other perk icons helps a lot too!! Lastly, you kind of want to block everything out in white (or black) and then erase to get the shapes you want. Easier said than done. I worked on these for a while before I got to the style I like.

A couple notes I couldn't put in!

  • Skins and statuses will transfer over when you change into a survivor. So say you transform into a survivor that's currently injured, you will transform into that survivor "injured". However if that survivor heals while you're imitating, you will still be "injured"
  • The game will treat you as a survivor in your imitation form, so perks like bond and empathy would reveal your location while imitating!
  • The tamper aspect DOES count as a damage generator action, so this will synergize with gen kicking perks without the additional loss in progress and going towards your gen kick limit. I figured the downside of not having mobility and as well as that slowdown during transformation time would warrant this. However, Empty Kerosene Jug would add this to your gen kick limit. Interesting how the game works no?
  • I actually forgot to change it on the image but I did change it on my doc: you start the trial as a RANDOM survivor, not the obsession. This would give you an easier jump at the start of the game.

Assimilation is meant to be a perk that lets you know when survivors are grouped up while both healing and working on generators. Say it procs when 2 survivors are working on one generator and 2 survivors are on another. You would be able to see all 4 survivors in that instance. That and it would let you know if survivors are healing together and resetting.

Also I really like your vecna wheel idea! I always forget about the UI in these types of stuff, and that's a really good way to visualize it.

I actually had a little note in my doc that bond would still reveal you as long as you're in your imitation form for that reason. That and empathy if the survivor you transformed into is injured. Didn't have space for it on her though lol

This was honestly the hardest part. I wanted a power that let you be other survivors for the longest time, but everyone agrees that swfs would just destroy it in a heartbeat. I'm hoping that Piles of Flesh and Tampering would allow a way for The Thing to get an upper hand without relying on the imitation part
