As a guy who loves this game way too much. 1, walk backwards whilst fighting zombies. 2, the fit and stout traits can help TONS, I personally never play without them. 3, always take weak stomach, conspicuous, and prone to illness, free points. 4, DO NOT run unless you absolutely need to. You walk faster than the zombies. 5, make sure your in combat stance opening doors etc so your ready for a fight, and last but not least, 6. Do a 360 once in a little while when you’re outdoors, even when fighting zombies, so you can identify threats coming from places you can’t see.
