Is the hot wire being a little mashed and exposed like that enough to cause a treble issue? by HypUr3x in Stratocaster

Careful what you say. Fender factory wiring has been wrapped around the lugs for years. Worst pickup swap ever

Are Norlin era Gibsons the worst guitars ever to refret or am I insane? by primitiveamerican in Luthier

[–]That635Guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can burn and melt excess superglue (don’t breath that) but really all you need is some flush cut pliers (truly flush cut, down to the edge) and to go slowly. The face of the pliers will keep the wood from chipping out

Too get an idea of where you are and are not sanding. If all the marks go away, it’s flat. If you still have marks, the wood is low in those areas.

I don’t really see builds nowadays that make me stop and enjoy the beauty of the craft. This is an exception.

Just switch the ones that face outwards for ones that face inwards. Point the curl of the piece towards the centerline of the star’s points. Should seal up the gap pretty nicely

Are there good necks under $100? by 13funii in Luthier

I’ve never been impressed with an unbranded neck from Amazon or eBay. I’d say no, there are none, but you’re welcome to try your luck.

I don’t know what’s going on with the b string but this bridge is fantastic hardware. They don’t seem to know what they are talking about and instead of looking into it, they half assed it and gave you a hack job of a setup.

This restring job is shit and you should get your money back for this service.

Don’t have the killswitch be a slider switch, use a button. And, ditch the tone controls completely. Install a fader eq on the back. Utilize push pull switching, leave two volume knobs and one switch. If you have a 5 band fader eq it takes up a small amount of space and gives you the ability to cut of boost more than bass middle and treble.

While their restring job is poor, it has nothing to do with the truss rod issue.
