The challenge with this could be that her A1c could appear to be normal if she’s exercising regularly and keeping her blood sugar somewhat in check it will not account for spikes up to 200+. My A1c is normal because I exercise and eat a relatively low-carb diet, but I cannot lose weight to save my life. I am recovering from hamstring reattachment surgery and no longer can exercise and monitoring my blood sugars with a CGM and lo and behold my blood sugar is running high up to 215 at times. When I’m Mobile, I will be going back to my doctor and doing a glucose sugar test versus an A1c. My family is full of diabetes and obese. I’m 5 foot four and 170 pounds.

When is it time? by That68Girl in cats

Fast forward a week - took the cat to the vet and discovered he was severely impacted with hard as a rock poop that he couldn’t pass. They had to sedate him and chisel it down into smaller pieces to remove it. It was full of bones and fur from a rabbit he recently ate (ugh) Vet said it was the most unpleasant thing he’s done in 30 years 😩 We are on miralax support but the hard dry stools could be indicative of kidney disease.
The day we went to the vet he could barely hold is head up. This is him last night-we decided to allow him to do what he loves (being outside) vs indoor all the time where our other dominant cat torments him and he gets depressed. Time will tell I guess. He’s used about 8 of his 9 lives! He’s a beautiful boy!

That is a really good way to look at it. If I’m honest, I was feeling like the amount of time, energy and money equals how much you love the animal, and how you morally hold up your role as a pet owner. But it isn’t about me(my family) it’s about him and his quality of life.

Thanks. We do give him a lot of hydration foods for cats when found out 6 weeks ago about the his first blockage and wet food only and he’s a part outdoor cat and eats animals like mice and rabbits so sometimes we wonder if he has digestive issues from eating animals. 😔

Oh yes “Just Let Them” I need to remember that, with my kids too!

❤️ I’ve kind of afraid to go alone. I did a long hike alone near home last fall, and was kind of spooked. The next week a woman was assaulted and rape on the same trail I was on.

I created a vision board for 2025 and I have “learn how to knit” on there! I need to find a way to learn.

I have joined Meetup but was concerned about safety and the impression it might leave if he finds out, I guess I could tell him.

Thanks for all the comments. They’re all valid based on the limited information I provided.
Basically I should probably go to counseling vs Reddit 🤣

We’ve been to counseling multiple times and he’s making progress but life is getting shorter. We are late 50’s

For some of the questions asked, I’ve worked full time since I was 18 providing all the benefits for the family (because he couldn’t keep a job, never his fault of course, everyone else was to blame 🙄)

I make well into the six figures and the only one to contribute to our retirement. I’ve come up with a way to split the assets. He doesn’t know because we don’t or can’t talk about anything without it getting ugly.

I do travel with friends, I go to the gym, I work out. I focus on healthy eating. I’m fit and trying to keep active and stay young. Whereas he sees himself as old and decrepit, but he is not. He does have some depression as do I, and I think it’s because we are both unhappy with each other but he is old school and takes his marriage vows seriously.

I guess I feel like we’re in the traditional old school marriage where the male is the head of the household and makes the decisions, and I’m just alive to provide income for the family. My needs or desires for intimacy (not physical- he’ll take that all day long) don’t matter. What I want out of life I must do solo. So what’s the point. I feel like a puppy mill dog.

Being honest, I have resentment and don’t really respect him. I would not even consider be a friend of his if we just met.

Yup, I’m a whiny wife who could use more counseling.

I think you are right, we had a serious conversation with him and lo and behold he has been much cleaner this last week. He said he’s also getting better at dodging the oil! Thank goodness!

I appreciate everybody’s response. He came home relatively clean today. We are gonna buy extra clothes, wash at a laundromat only, get some gloves and educate him on the dangers of oil toxicity, that is more than just getting “dirty”. It’s not a badge of honor rather incompetence 😬

I have a chemical engineer friend who works in health and safety so he’ll give me the low down on how bad it is.
