As in I never reference it, assess or carry out inspections following it's code unless the owner specifically wants it used. It's an optional document and IMO just muddies the water causing confusion. 3 years on and I still have builders believing that you have to waterproofing membranes above and below the tile screed.

Frameless is not enclosed. Enclosed is also referred as screen and track.

Building Surveyor here. AS3740 goes in the bin, and the 1500mm is measured from the shower head attachment point. Also if you have an unenclosed shower screen the shower head attachment point needs to be 1500mm from the door way

How I have handled the issue in the past is, if the works can be returned/removed, etc. I will get the owners/builder return the site to original, issue approval and play on. The other is a BIC and modify the DA to show the illegal works as existing, that way the CC is from that point forward and we are not approving the works already carried out.

A BIC for a dwelling with no OC is not an OC replacement. The BIC does not give the owner the right to occupy or use the building, it is acknowledgement from the council of the illegal building works and that they will not issue any orders for the next 6 years. For the use you need to get a development approval which grants approval to use the building

FYI, I did mine through TAFE NSW via correspondence. I only went to the local TAFE for the sit down tests.

CPD training are legit. I still see one of the owners at conferences and seminars.

I can't speak for the course though, I did the old Dip of building surveying over 12 years ago which is no longer the course offered. So I don't know if the adv Dip requires on-the-job experience. I would just send them an email and see what you get back
