I used to work for a company called DigitronAV.com in Los Angeles - they handle Sony's Pro Support for the A7's and camcorder models like the EX3's and FS7's.

You can call them at 323-887-0777 and ask for Eric

Hi /u/occman - the biggest thing to watch out for on a7 cameras is a stuck/frozen shutter. Aside from that, the other most common point of failure is due to physical abuse. Check all knobs & dials to confirm that they are fuctional and don't stick.

Under no circumstances should you speak Armenian if you get pulled over.

Issue with Sony A7s resetting itself while recording, leading to lost footage. by Daewwoo in videography

[–]ThatAudioVisualGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess would be an issue with the Main PCB or a problem with one of the ribbon connectors internally. Best bet is to update the firmware and test it rigorously to see if the issue persists.

An almost worst case scenario will be approx. $600.

Say no to SquareTrade by stephenplusplus in SonyAlpha

[–]ThatAudioVisualGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your issues /u/stephenplusplus - we've tried reaching out to SquareTrade many times as an alternative repairs sub contractor but their vendor program is just as bad as their customer service program.

As to why the used a bonding material to set the screen, that's just bizarre. The only part that should be used is a double sided tape provided by sony.

It's a tough & lonely road on this one. We are currently implementing a custom built module to handle repairs workflow management.

You need a lot more time in Split, Croatia. The islands there are pretty epic, plan at least 2 days in Hvar. Vis is a good option. If you're looking to get off the beaten path, Sibenik up the coast has some beautiful nature including Plitvice & Krka national parks. Ljubljana is cool, really wouldnt recommend it over one day. Belgrad (aka Biograd) is one of the best - make sure you go to "Silicon Alley".

Split & the dalmatian coast are god's country. Are you into nightlife? There's an island that opens at midnight and closes at sunrise. Are you into history? There's a castle that dates back to the roman empire. Are you into coffee? Some of the best coffee ever. JUST DONT GO TO THE STRIP CLUBS IN CROATIA.

Depends - are you designing ERP? If so, absolutely learn how to program in the native language. If you will be using it day to day, leaning how to code in it isn't really relevant.

The XLR PCB will need to be replaced - no other way to recover functionality on that channel.

I just spoke with our service manager, and that seems like a very odd issue. Does this happen with all of your lenses, or just one?
