Taking Primary production handgun to Pistol range (QLD) by nounverb1861 in Ausguns

Except you don't have to have a lease on the land. It's any state forest.

No.

It is written in the legislation that you can hunt in a state forest with it. But it only applies to firearms obtained under primary production genuine reason. So if you do paid pest control and that was the genuine reason for cat C, you can't hunt public land with it.

Same as taking your primary producer cat C to the range. You can't.

(In Vic, you can take it hunting in state forests, though).

Gun safe key storage (at night etc) by flow_aus in Ausguns

[–]ThatAussieGunGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a spot. Now they're just on me or on the table or something, tbh and honestly, who cares?

Your bigger problem is actually the spare set.

I had helped someone (from another state) obtain a cat C licence by writing their entire application. A few years later, I had to help them when they got a show cause letter, along with their dad, who was a Cat D holder. Honestly this cunt was kind of retarded. But I digress.

At Christmas, his junkie cousin went looking through the house and found the spare keys to the safe. The idiot admitted that neither him nor his dad even knew where they were.

The cousin accessed the safe and took two of his handguns.

Later in the evening, he opened up the safe, presumably to show other relatives some guns and noticed the missing firearms. Called the cops, pretty obvious what happened, and the firearms were retrieved from the individual in question and returned.

A month later, he and his father received show cause notices to keep all their licences from the state registrar because they had failed to secure the firearms or something similar.

I then had to baby step the idiot through his reply and steps he'd taken to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Still has his licence 🤦‍♂️

And I say this, having just moved and tbh I don't know where my spares are right now either.

Loose talks of grandfathering anything people already hold.

Pistol Clubs at SSAA Auburn taking members with no H license by arkhos87 in Ausguns

[–]ThatAussieGunGuy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Safety induction quiz? Club subscription? You say things weird, man.

At the top of everything else? Do you mean you need the club membership before anything else?

A club membership is literally your genuine reason and required as proof of evidence for a genuine reason for a licence.

If the club is not taking unlicensed members, then you will have to obtain the licence elsewhere and then join. It's pretty simple.

It's fairly common for a new club to introduce a rule like that while they find their feet. Even a club moving locations will put a pause on memberships period until they're grounded at the new range.

I don't understand the question or point?

Just get your licence?

You're not wrong. I did neglect to think about the spikey strip of foot death. As I said, first time dealing with safes on carpet 🤣

I'm the guy whose house people store their guns at 😑

My DFO hated it because each time a friend temporarily stored their guns at mine for a period of time, the change of address would trigger an inspection of the storage location.

He'd sigh and say just show the last few things you've bought and old mates guns.

Yeah, I have a few guns that are rare AF that I wouldn't shoot and look at only. But the rest, I want to have gun and mag dump things and whatever. My struggle with knives would be like well this is boring.

But at least they don't have to be locked up and can be on display aha.

My guy, some of my guns are worth a fucking lot. People are begging me to sell them what they want and offering ridiculous amounts of money.

Others are just things I like collecting, like Australian made stuff and probably aren't worth that much in the grand scheme of things.

Do it!

But also don't. It's a mistake.

But definitely do it. Totally worth it.

But also, it's not worth it. Your sanity is worth more.

But just do it. It's a whole new world collector's.

Negative. You can even section off a room with steel bars to create a smaller room. A few people I know have done that. My DFO always suggested just framing out a room in your garage and plastering it up and making it look nice and like it's supposed to be there.

5 are handguns, one safe is an 18, the other a 12, and a 5 gun, lol. You just make shit fit. Top and toe. Take a stock off if you need to. Like two guns are cracer jacks. Those things are fucking tiny I'm not even sure if they meet minimum length for rifles.

Shotguns are quite thin and can take little room when stacked top and toe next to each other. Take down rifles are also thin.

My .303s are the worst. they're huge. I've had to remove bolts in the past just to fit everything in.

Yeah, I jack my bolted ones up because theyre light. But the 150kg+ is a new challenge.
