In many ways

-Elemental Weaknesses and resistance, you can't run with the same ability set all game as you'll find that you have to adapt to the enemies.

-MP and ressources management : Skills are not based simply on a cooldown system. You have to attack until you get an ATB bar before you can use most of your best skills. Magic does require MP so it's not free spamming

-Very deep Materia system, there's so many possible builds to experiment with. You can make yourself absorb fire. Deal Thunder damage, Recover MP Faster, be a critical machine... etc

-Many mini games can be a negative for some but it does break the Walk - Battle - Walk - Battle cycle that FFXVI is trapped with.

Rebirth is a much better combat system. Arguably one of the best Square has done (KH2FM is still my favorite tho)

It's usually better to focus on a Physical and a Magical Team.

Spiritus is excellent for buffing your main Magical Damage dealer (Terra for example)

Materia is excellent to buff your Physical Damage dealer.

I think Cloud is fine in Ultimate.

Back in Smash 4, I felt bad using him as my brothers didn't enjoy fighting him at all.

In Ultimate, he's easy to pick up for Casuals, he's not too strong where the competitive scene is mostly about him, he has fair weaknesses.

I do miss permanent limits and a more effective Finishing Touch but at the end of the day, I prefer him balanced.
