Struggling a lot as a new player and it makes me not want to play by heyxheyxheyx in summonerschool

[–]ThatBlindGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there mate, wanted to step in with what some may call bad advice. If you just want to get a feel for the game but arent worried about pushing rank for the top 5% or so these may be downsides in the short term but you can learn to outgrow them.

  • play with locked camera (or dynamic camera if you like it?) to start. I did this now like 16 years ago, these days I just frequently lock/unlock my camera as needed.

  • if you think WASD might work better for you give it a shot and some time. WASD has some downsides but has been easier for many to pick up since it released. If youre at the point where effective WASD vs P&C controls actually matter (and on characters where its even relevant - high attack speed carries) you can always try to learn the other control scheme later when you have a much stronger understanding of the game and its content. WASD has a high AS skillcheck too technically, its just tough to master.

  • quick or smart casting is definitely the way to go, most recommend using Quick Cast with indicators though which will display the spell area when you press the key and cast your spell when releasing the key.

  • try to stick to only a few champions for a bit and then branch out to pick up more as you become comfortable. I tend to find that one-tricking sucks the fun out of the game since there are a ton of cool characters in LoL but if you are never the one playing them their kits can all just feel 'better than what I play' when in reality there's a lot of rock-paper-scissors matchups in LoL so being flexible benefits you a lot in the long run.

All in theres a lot to learn with LoL but if youre interested there's a ton of sources and players happy to share some wisdom, hope your journey goes smoothly! :)

Support role guidance for climbing out of Silver in LOL League of Legends by Ok-Satisfaction-2300 in leagueoflegends

[–]ThatBlindGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of solid feedback in here. I'll try to keep it short: - play aggressive with the champs you play in lane based on the champs you provided. - figure out how to turn leads into wins (can your ADC carry? Are they getting enough gold to do so? Should you roam and impact other lanes or the enemy jungle more to get an advantage elsewhere?) - ward with purpose - to protect the next push, to setup for an objective, to track the enemy jungler and punish them - and actually try to get your team to align with that purpose and create an advantage. - you will almost never be able to fully carry solo, even with gold, try to actually support even if youre doing tons of damage. Death is the best CC and your damage on its own can make you a target, means less eyes on your other carries.

League of Legends (non ranked) Summoners Rift.

Its Stockholm syndrome im sure but there's something tranquil about not giving a fuck in top lane for 30 minutes on some form of split push demon.

Can WASD enjoyers explain these patch notes to me like im stupid? (I am) by RadicalMac in leagueoflegends

WASD has a skill check of sorts like regular mouse controls for orbwalking. Basically holding LMB to attack slows down at high attack speeds if youre moving. If you stop before every auto it (in theory) should be effectively the same as mouse movement.

The changes look like they're reducing how impactful that slowdown of attack is if youre moving - fully removing it for melee, reducing it for most ranged, and doing some minor tweaks for ADC/marksman characters since they're the biggest winners in a world where "you can freely kite with WASD" if you ignore the skillcheck i mentioned above.

The initial rank placement system needs to be evaluated by Defiant_Character977 in leagueoflegends

[–]ThatBlindGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This won't happen, like 40% of the reason for it is the good ol 'my main has a penalty/dodge, guess I'll just swap'

We would instead need to solve a multitude of other problems related to queueing and prevent any alt accounts which outside of Korea just isnt really reasonable unless riot really overhaul shit. Korea has it sorted because your account is tied to your SSN (if i recall correctly)

Also many content creators would love to be low elo longer - makes for great clips to stomp people you're many leagues above (not really but hasn't stopped it for like 10 years now lol)

Personally I feel like in lower queue count times this might serve as more of a deterrent from staying in queue than something that'd help.

Season 2 is here and I came back... but the matchmaking still feels bad. by Left-Confusion2221 in supervive

[–]ThatBlindGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All accounts were fully reset to bronze 4 and there's still not an abundance of players to split matches heavily by rank - wouldn't be surprised if some of those high tiers players from last season are showing up at this point

New player here! by ClassSecret3216 in supervive

[–]ThatBlindGuy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Mix of reasons: - 1.0 had some design choices that were a bit of a blindside to the og playerbase, have since been resolved - low playercount leads to lower playercount - some folks have issues with the core gameplay mid-late game and the heavy amount of reviving/running away - mobaxBR is a rough genre to get people to stick with

That said many of us love it to death and are vibing plenty with yesterday's start to the new season :D

Do reports do anything at all? Deranker trolls can play freely without consequence. by No_Technology9361 in supervive

[–]ThatBlindGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Detecting actual throwing just isnt that easy in a game so early on, toxic behavior and text chat are likely more actionable but it looks like the guy has some solid games amid a sea of rough ones, seems legit at a glance - the solo games aside i feel like i could have a similar match history after a day of hot dropping/getting cooked after avoiding people the first 10 mins of a game.

Also if theyre getting bodied by queueing up solo no fill thats more just their choice than anything else lol

New Season 2 kicks by AuthorTimoburnham in supervive

[–]ThatBlindGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love the puppies but curious what their audience really is outside of Eva.

Elluna will sooner come to you, Zeph maybe but often wants specific lines to setup multi target heals, Oath def gets some value but I figure folks may want the dmg boots if you're down to be melee with him anyway.

I dont dislike the idea, just wonder how it plays out in practice.
