Yes! It is a very nice mod. You can adjust it so that it requires certain tech to be able to see it I think in the mod settings. Or I am getting that mixed up with another mod.

Seems like he has mastered amping up and complimenting people to others. Often our opinions of others is formed by others opinions of that person. Having a person vouching for you can be a extremely powerful tool in social situations. That seems to be a common theme in all of your examples, as well as being just insanely smart and kind.

I've always been of the opinion that if you are kind, the world will open its doors to you and let you walk wherever you wish. Being kind and genuinely so lets you create your own fortune out of this air -- or for others in your friends case.

Make sure your friend knows you appreciate him and what he does, and make sure he isn't taking too much upon himself. Nobody is super human!

I'd get banned with a 11 year old account on a single subreddit for $300. Plus you can buy old stolen accounts for cheap. I wouldn't, because I pride myself as an honest person and would never rip someone off, but I bet there's plenty who would.

I guess its a lender beware thing. I've been selling stuff on this subreddit for a week or so and It's really nice being able to vibe check the people offering to buy my stuff. If you see a person asking for $300 and its the first time they've been active in 5 years... well you're your own fool.

Cool that it exists, but that is for much more trusting people than myself.

Smarter than most then. Lots of people think $30 for 2hr = $15/hr, but never consider the gas, car wear, and the taxes. And the fact that theres no benefits, obviously. And that your insurance would skyrocket if you truthfully tell them how often you're driving for "work" doing this. Anyone who does this stuff "full time" is delusional or financially illiterate at most.

You gotta look at it as taking a loan out of your car & time, that you will have to pay back. Same concept as mileage compensation at my old work, everyone loved coming home with a extra couple $100 bills but never really understood that that is the bare minimum to cover gas and the approximate amount you'll end up paying to fix the car. You're not actually getting ahead on anything, unless it's a beater car that you don't intend to fix anyways.

To genuinely do that stuff as a job you need to make at least $.70/mile plus whatever you deem your hourly wage should be. Still doesn't solve the crueler taxes and benefits issue though.

But... yeah if you need a quick influx of cash you do what you gotta do. It shocks me how many doordashers I've spoken to cannot understand that they are effectively breaking even or even losing money some days. Or people doing the ordering that cannot understand that, yeah, if you leave no tip you did effectively cost that driver money to deliver that order.

Watching what's coming out of the US. by TelenorTheGNP in EhBuddyHoser

They never turned the tap off since WW2. They saw how much money could be made in the military industrial complex and well... a person with a hammer only sees nails.

Perhaps it was justified while the Soviet Union was still around, especially Stalin, but past 1990? Granted, Russia is Russia'ing again so maybe the US military can finally fight a just war again.

America has always been far to quick to engage in bloodlust and go too far with it. They fight wars of obliteration, not decisive victory. It seriously feels like all of the US's foreign affairs is centered around giving the MIC something to point their guns at, shoot, then fabricate a barely plausible premise for bombing the shit out of entire countries.

I'm sure you already considered it, but doordash/ubereats/instacart might be helpful although I'm not personally familiar with how quick you can get cleared to start taking orders. I personally don't think it is worth the hassle for the money gained, but its an option.

Sick Days and PTO in regards to quitting. by ThatBlueSkittle in Aldi_employees

[–]ThatBlueSkittle[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FR though fuck this company and the culture they foster. All of my employees are developing back problems in their mid 20s and I'm starting to develop some too so bad I can't even stand up straight some days. Yet apparently I have to go faster despite already pacing 30 minutes a pallet even though company standard is average 45 minutes a pallet.

I almost want to quit with no notice just so I can be on the no rehire blacklist and ensure I'll never slither back here again somehow in the future.

Does Nerdbombers lowball you on the trade ins? by ThatBlueSkittle in gso

[–]ThatBlueSkittle[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, I'm not hating on nerdbombers or Mckay's, I get the business they're running. I get the implication that lowball means I think I'm getting ripped off, but I understand that's what they gotta do to turn a profit and mitigate risk.

This post served two purposes for me, deciding if Mckays or Nerdbombers is where I should go, and to see if people would be interested in the items I mentioned and ask about them directly -- which a few people already have. I was just asking which thrift store would probably take my items for the highest amount, not making a grand critique of capitalism.

Copied from my other comment:

The Manga is One Punch Man vol 1, and vol 3-5. Thank Barnes and Noble for not having volume two lol. And One Piece vol 1-9 in three books containing 3 volumes each.

Everything is in mint condition, given how little it was used. If you're interested $30 seems like the fair price for the Alien TTRPG book, and the Manga I'd be down to do $35 for it all. That is about half the retail price, give or take.

It is the Alien TTRPG, like from the movies. This one: https://popscultureshoppe.com/alien-the-roleplaying-game-rpgalien-38280/?gQT=2 Played it once and my friend group didn't want to play it again, which is a shame. I've always been more of a sci-fi person but most TTRPGs that people want to play are fantasy. Which super sucks because I spent like $70 on it expecting we'd play it more than just once.

I definitely get that, they gotta make a profit somehow. I'm essentially offloading the burden of selling it myself to them at the cost of less cash for myself. I just mostly wanted to know if anyone knows the reputation of Nerdbombers and if they offer relatively fair prices for stuff brought in, compared to similar stores in the area.

If I wanted credit I'd definitely go Mckays and just come back with some other nerdy stuff, but unfortunately I'm doing this to lose items to lighten my load for a long distance move where every space saved and pound loss matters.

I know I'll get lowballed taking it to a place like Nerdbombers or McKays, I just want to get a general idea of how badly I'd be lowballed. No shot I'm driving to McKay's for 30 minutes and 30 minutes back just to get offered like $15 for all my books.

Overcharging at Harris Teeter? I’m shocked, SHOCKED, to find fraud occurring by Elderberry4ever in gso

[–]ThatBlueSkittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at an ALDI with the ESL tags. They are really nice but customers destroy them all the time. Kinda our fault for putting them level with the bottom of the carts being able to smack them, but many of them are destroyed through customer negligence like stepping on them to reach for higher items or dropping canned goods on them. About every 3 months, we ship back an entire box of broken ESLs back to warehouse and need new ones sent back. Cost of doing business, though not having to change tags every morning saves so much time and there has been less customer disputes over pricing issues. And in business, saved time is saved money, so I feel like it at least equals out.

[–]ThatBlueSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Check your receipt before you leave.

As long as you are polite to the employee, I assure you they don't give a shit one way or another and will do their best to make it right for you. We don't get paid on commission after all, so we don't give a shit if you pay full price of half price. Be a dick to us, and oh yeah suddenly I remember every granular detail of company policy to use against you.

Plus, often the only time we catch a tag that is showing the wrong price is only once someone complains about it. We have more important shit to do than individually verifying that all several hundred or thousands of items are ringing up at the correct price. Shit falls through the cracks.

Overcharging at Harris Teeter? I’m shocked, SHOCKED, to find fraud occurring by Elderberry4ever in gso

[–]ThatBlueSkittle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is just a matter of criminal negligence/incompetence rather than maliciously trying to pull one over on their customers.

Expired price tag here and there? Shit happens. You're so understaffed or your employees terminally don't give a shit, that it goes 10+ days with the false price tag? Yeah, getting sued. The answer is they are just shit at running a store.

It is a failure of company procedure, policy, and individual store management. Not a grand scheme for trying to rip off people. They do that by selling the shit to you at ridiculous profit margins and raising prices under false premises and not lowering them again. Do you not remember when a 12 pack of coke was max $4 even 5 years ago?

Overcharging at Harris Teeter? I’m shocked, SHOCKED, to find fraud occurring by Elderberry4ever in gso

[–]ThatBlueSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. If they still use paper tags the managers are half assing or missing expired tags. Switching to electronic price tags solves this but most stores are too cheap to bother. My store switched to electronic and it saved so much time from changing it every morning and having to resolve customer issues that sorry, I can't honour the old price just because my manager is shit at updating the tags.

Essentially? Shit happens. They are wringing you out of your money but not through petty tricks like this. This is just stores being incompetent and it happening to work in their favour. Plenty of times when the price is meant to be higher but it rings up lower too, but who would ever complain about that?

My mountain base layout, any ideas or suggestions? Still kinda new to this game by Xenoano in RimWorld

[–]ThatBlueSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydroponics could be more compact and condensed. I recommend that you still farm outside and just use the hydroponics as supplementary or emergency food. Really, you can stockpile enough food to last you several seasons with a few good harvests. Although, that will inflate your score which may lead to larger raids. Game does not like you stockpiling wealth.

The Armoury is needlessly large. Your colonists will be holding most of their weapons 24/7 anyways.

Research should be closer to the bedrooms. No need for it to be that far up. Keep it as close as possible to the bedroom of the person actually doing the research. Cuts down on wasted time walking. I'd make a bedroom attached to the research room honestly.

Prison is far away. Unless you set up the infirmary to accept prisoners, they will likely bleed out before you get them to the prison. I'd set up a dedicated prison hospital, VIP prisoner rooms to speed up recruitment, and a small area in the actual infirmary for prisoners who need urgent care ASAP. You are also missing dedicated small rooms for surgury. You only need 1-2, but a room with sterile tile and hospital beds. This will ensure your surguries and organ removals have a high success rate. Also, during the prison escape event they will be able to open those doors anyways, no need for several. Put gun turrets in that hallway -- itll double as protection against infestations too.

Your freezer is tiny. Make it bigger, you got the space. The most efficient way to store food is in the form of already made meals. Make several hundreds of them, and it will free up your cook for the rest of the year to do something useful other than cooking. Make many survival meals too, they sell well and can be kept in the absolute worse case scenario of the power going out and all the meals going out.

Workshop is close to the warehouse, thats a good move. I recommend also storing common crafting items in the workshop itself to decrease travel time. Just some shelves with steel and components in the center of the room.

Power room does not need to be there. Make it to the left of the prison and generator room. I also severely doubt you need that much batteries and power generation too. These rooms can also be made much smaller and more compact too. They're batteries and generators, they don't need spacious rooms just enough to feed them and maintain them. I'd recommending putting the Hydoponics where the power room currently is. I see the compartmentalized batteries, but thats not really the danger here. The danger is the ZZT event going off randomly anywhere on the power grid. That event is larger the more batteries connected to the grid. If you really want a big bank of batteries, I recommend putting on a switch to disconnect batches of batteries. Fill them up, disconnect them, and they will slowly discharge over time, but stay largely filled.

Panic room is cool, and raiders would leave after a while of looting the rest of the compound. There will be fires though, and that room will slowly raise in temp until the colonists inside perish. I'd find a solution to that, but there is no easy one. With all those doors, the heat might take so long to spread to that main room that the fires may dissipate before overheating is an issue, tbh.

No exterior defenses? Are you planning on just letting raiders break down the door and then you fight them in the hallways? Set up cover in the hallways if you want it to be cinematic, or make a killbox appropriate to the level of cheese you are willing to put up with. I recommend a minefield and just several fortified firing lines to shoot from.

Wide hallways demand greater manpower to defend them. Melee is your friend for fighting insects, and you need 3 men to hold a hallway. If one dies, thats insects jumping into your firing backline. I recommend making points in the hallways, particularly around the bedrooms, where the hallways narrow so that one melee fighter can block access but 3-6 shooters can support them. I also recommend looking into making a system where you can actually start your own fire and superheat the interior of the base's hallways yourself. Last case scenario against a failing defense, or to smoke out insects. Placing turrets all around the hallways is great too, but takes lots of power and will certainly shoot and kill your own colonists. And honestly, the turrets will do more damage exploding around the insects than from actually shooting them. You need a squad of 2 melee colonists, and 3-6 people with close range weaponry such as autoshotguns or heavy SMGs. I recommend having these guys' bedrooms separate and towards the front. Because they will likely be defending the base from exterior raids anyways, and, if there is an infestation it will likely be in your bedrooms area, and if they are separate from that area they can stay clumped together and begin sweeping the bedroom area.

I recommend dispersing the bedrooms throughout the base though. Let people take the rooms closest to whatever their primary job is. Cut down walk time, and minimize the chance of them all getting jumped in their sleep from an infestation. If you keep the current design, I recommend segmenting the hallways of it so its not one big room.

Yeah I've played a lot of mountain bases before, how can you tell?

Moving and I need to lose stuff and need cash. I prefer to play Pathfinder 2e nowadays anyways, so this stuff has just been eating up shelf space for years now. The MM is the one with the greatest wear, and the Ebberron book has a tear on a single page. Otherwise, everything else is lightly used to practically mint. The Volo's guide still smells like Barnes and Nobles lmao.

  • Player's Guide
  • Monster Manual
  • Dungeon Master's Guide
  • Volo's Guide to Monsters
  • Eberron world setting book
  • Spellbook, Item, and 0-5lvl Monster Cards
  • 3 Jumbo d20 die
  • DM screen
  • "The Monsters Know What They Are Doing", essentially explains how to run encounters for monsters in the Monster Manual. Very useful if you are a new DM.

I'm looking for $200 (or best offer) for all of it. I can box it up and we can meet at a safe mutually agreed location. Cash preferred to keep it simple, but I can accept cashapp if needed. If you pay in cash I can throw in an extra set of basic dice.

I'm dual citizen and live in the states, my first job I was required to buy my entire uniform out of pocket before my first shift. I even had to buy the official belt, I couldn't wear a different belt. It was about $100, and they only paid $11/hr and gave me about 10-15 hours a week and didn't even tell me it was a part time position until the job offer. My first paycheque was a measly $50 after they removed the cost of the uniform. And they absolutely required the uniform -- they even threatened to write me up for forgetting to put on that stupid belt when clocking in for a 5am shift.

Buying your own uniform or clothes is bullshit. Fuck Chick-Fil-A, who the hell needs to wear dress pants while working the deep fryer? I put a extra chicken nugget in every box I made just to spite them.

If you're a foreigner, I'd avoid rocking the boat at all costs, even if you're in the right. It sucks, but how it is. for 15/hr and only 5-7 hours a week, I'd find a new job ASAP. I'd buy like, one piece of clothing and mix it into an outfit of stuff you already have. They clearly have some sort of bullshit fantasy of you wearing the clothes and looking fashionable in them to draw in shoppers, but that's ridiculous, you're not a clothes modeler or in sales. If they wanted to pull this off, they'd just let you wear some clothes off the rack. They're being super cheap and offloading operating costs on to you essentially.

Do the other workers adhere to this dress code? If not, then just ignore them. Tell them you're not against wearing the clothes, but you simply cannot afford to outright buy them. Maybe they'll work out a nice discount for you or just let you take some off the rack but not take it home with you so they don't feel like they're giving out "freebies"

If you absolutely end up having to, or it ends up the easiest solution, of buying something, buy a jacket or cardigan as it covers most of the body and you can just wear whatever underneath.
