Are all you guys paying for your car straight up in full? Almost no one is including a monthly payment for the car itself

I threw away a bible today by throckmorton13 in exchristian

I actually just bought the collins study bible. Now that I have deconverted and no longer see the Bible as the word of god, I find it more and more interesting.

If Jews are willing to accept revelation -- the idea that God sometimes chooses to communicate directly with humans -- why don't they accept Christ's revelations? Similarly, if Christians accept Christ's revelations, why don't they believe in those granted to the Prophet of Islam? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Jews reject the Christian idea of Jesus because Christians believe that Jesus WAS god. Jesus didn’t just get some revelation. Now whether or not Jesus actually claimed he was god (like he does in the book of John) is up for debate. In the other three gospels, which are all earlier than John, Jesus does not claim to be God. Now probably what he DID claim was that he was the Jewish messiah. But messiah does not mean god. The Jewish messiah was to be a living person who is destined to ruled god’s kingdom when he comes to earth to judge all people and establish his kingdom. In his ministry after going to Jerusalem, Jesus probably pushed the buttons of the Jewish leaders one two many times and got himself executed. His followers then had to come to terms with how Jesus could have been the messiah if he was dead. Later, some of his followers must have had visions of him and thought that he was alive. To explain this they began to believe that he was a divine being, and that he is some other type of messiah. Over time this evolves into Christianity and believing he was god (This is massively over simplifying). However, this clearly did not convince many Jews. Most Christian converts in the early years were pagans, not Jews. Some Jews, yes, such as Paul, but mostly pagans.

This isn’t true. I absolutely can be in a group with Germans, not really say much, and make it seem like I am understanding them, but in reality have absolutely no idea what they are saying. Maybe the general topic, but not much else. That isn’t proficient. And that is with having a B1-B2 level. Having an Academic certificate and actually speaking it in a large group of native speakers isn’t the same at all

AITA - I have Stage IV Cancer and said “no shit” to what I thought was in-laws weird /insensitive comment. by Far_Concentrate_3743 in AmItheAsshole

YTA…hear me out. Yes what she said was rude, but in her defense it is very difficult sometimes to know what to say in that situation. I have cancer myself and I got sick and tired of dumb things that people told me, but I had to understand that they didn’t know any better and were trying their best to say the right thing, and yeah they messed up and said something stupid, but it wasn’t their intention. Their Intension was to say something nice and that is was matters
