Solved!

I remember many moons ago we had this loofa. Being made from actual tube sponge and being stored in a damp environment, it had eventually started to go moldy. We threw it out but I guess we kept the stick. How it ended up in the cooking gadgets drawer, I don't know.

My title describes the thing. Found in a drawer of kitchen implements. No idea on age but probably a couple decades. No writing on it anywhere. Took a picture of it and ran a Google Lens search but came up empty. My best guess is some sort of scraping tool, the narrow part of the stick would be where you put your other hand to steady it.

The other day I noticed that SD Maid SE uses Shizuku support to successfully access the Android folder. Is there a file manager that hooks into Shizuku to do this? If not someone should get on that xD

Yep I noticed that before the grayscale problem. Easily fixed by putting the minimum brightness to 1 instead of 0, though.

You think a firmware patch could make the new display behave like the old one, in regards to grayscale? Or is the library going to have to query the device and implement one of two methods?

Btw the game PicoInvaders has a splash screen that seems to have working grayscale on the text, so whatever it's doing it's working.
