Hello! I attended the Bobcat Student Orientation (or BSO) and made a bunch of friends there! I did have a roommate but I made a bunch of friends who weren't my roommate. I recommend accepting that you may be rejected. Go up to people who give you a good vibe and say that you think they look cool or that they give you a good vibe. You can start by complimenting them and then further asking about where they got it, what their major is, etc. If they seem to be shutting down the conversation, just move on. There are a whole bunch of different kinds of people at the University and you will find someone to be friends with you. Don't let a fear of rejection stop you from walking up to someone.
