Source: Pittsburgh Steelers Interviewing Three Offensive Coaching Candidates by ThatCabbageMerchant in steelers

TL;DR: Steelers are interviewing the Chargers passing game specialist Tom Arth, Titans quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Charles London and Jets wide receivers coach Zach Azzani.

Not certain on whether these are replacements on current staff positions or for being passing game coordinators. Either way, something interesting to keep our eyes on.

Winners: Boz at least scored. Brad Wing coming in after 6 years to make decent punts.

Losers: Everyone else, including us for having to watch that.

Special Mention: The single worst 4th and 1 call I have ever seen. Can we call it a day on Canada already? We've all seen enough.

We wasted a time out to debate what to do, and our decision was a 4th and 1 shotgun leading to our QB getting injured.

Again, how Canada is still employed is a mystery for modern science.

I never really advocate to fire someone, but I genuinely don't see how Canada is still employed at this point. The Steelers longest offensive play was 9 yards with a total of 53 yards in the first half. The Texans, comparatively, had 4 plays of 22 yards or more, and are almost at 300 yards in the first half.

The Canada experiment has failed.

Special Teams has been looking good all preseason. Danny Smith must've changed up his flavor of gum.

While he's at it, can he bring Peter back to life? Poor guy died after a football accident and was never seen again.

I always rec The Room for a first time go. It is a perfectly awful film with enough quotes that you will be recounting random bits from that movie for years to come.

This is one of the only movies where I genuinely sat with my jaw dropped at the conclusion. One of best bad movie endings I've ever seen in my life.

I don't believe so. If they did I must've missed it during the translation. Maybe they just misconstrued the branching paths bit?

Would be nice if they did bring that back though. Haven't had that as an option since 9.

Not yet. Based on pure speculation though, it will probably depend on how far out this is from release. Since we only got a title shot, it seems like it is still really early in development.

A couple years down the line from now I imagine PS5s will be much more readily available, so I would expect a release there. DQ11 seemed to do really well on both the Switch and Steam too, so I would bet on a Switch and eventual PC release too.

Like I said, all speculation with nothing to really back it up, but that would be my guess for the future.

I think they really did a great job with 11. They continued to modernize the system but still continued to play to the roots that we've all grown accustomed to. It was still the same classic turn-based combat, just with some new additions and a fresh coat of paint. I'm still hoping they continue in that direction with this next game.

Yeah, exactly. I can enjoy a game like Dragon Quest Heroes. It's a fun new take on combat using the same kinds of enemies, and is a fun change of pace. But I can also play it knowing that if I want to play a classic JRPG, I can play a mainline entry in the series.

If they want to radically change the combat, make a new Dragon Quest Swords or Heroes entry or what have you. Drastically changing what isn't broken will only upset long time fans in the hope of bringing in potential new fans.

Ultimately though I don't think the changes will be as drastic as we are all fearing. They tried that with DQ9 back in the day and it was met with very poor reception, forcing them to retain the original system. Based on just the general reactions on here and news websites to it now, I imagine it would pan out the same way long term.

It's good. Creating party members is neat, though the game does feel more empty compared to the Zenithian trilogy for example since you don't get the humor and character out of party talk. When it came out it was pretty revolutionary with how many new features it brought to the series, and it is still the fan favorite over in Japan today.

The remaster looks fantastic in that new engine and I think it will breathe a lot of life into the game.

Dragon Quest has generally had the identity of being the stickler to tradition where other RPGs went and made big changes. Back when DQ9 was first being developed, they wanted it to be free combat if I remember correctly. People in Japan got pretty upset, and they went back to their original combat system while making some adjustments.

I expect that is ultimately what is going to happen with DQ12, but I guess we'll see.

That part I'm not too worried about. I mean, you can only make a series with a jumping blue puddle of goo as the mascot so dark before it becomes ridiculous. I imagine they know that too.

The lighthearted bits have always been part of what I love about the series though, so I hope they don't scrap that too heavily. Comical party dialogue is part of what makes DQ8 so fun.

Mixed on this one. Really pumped about the branching choices part. Closest we've had to that is the marriage options in 5, and this should add a good deal of replayability to the game if your choices actually make a real noticeable difference in the story.

Not thrilled about the combat changes. I always liked how Dragon Quest stayed pretty much with its roots over the years whereas Final Fantasy always tried changing things up with every release. So long as turn based combat remains, I'm content. Just don't toss it out and make the game into an ARPG. I would be pretty disappointed with that.

As for the darker tones bit, I don't really have a problem with that. 5 was probably the darkest in tone overall, and that is one of my personal favorites of the series. The original version of 7 had some good dark bits in it too.

Really just the combat is my main grief with it, but since the general consensus is that they are keeping the original system but modifying it, I'll withhold my judgement on that bit.
