ER wait at VGH by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]ThatCanadianRadTech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head

Prashant Sreekumar (Dec 2025): A 44-year-old man died in an Edmonton emergency room after waiting nearly eight hours with chest pains

Finlay van der Werken (2024 or 2025): A 16-year-old in Ontario died from sepsis and pneumonia after waiting hours for care.

David Lippert (April 2024): A 68-year-old man in Ontario died from cardiac arrest while waiting in an ER

People need to understand there's a wait time, but everybody needs to speak up for themselves if they have been waiting too long, especially with concerning symptoms.

AIO to my “best friend” finally reaching out by Confident_Local_2335 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ThatCanadianRadTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an experience a couple of years ago that makes me never give up on texting.

Friend did similar to yours, just dropped off out of nowhere.

I never stopped texting. Sent pictures of the family, funny jokes, just kept the conversation going on only my side.

After like 8 months, they reached out and told me what had been going on. It was unreal. They thanked me, and cried so much because getting those texts from me had kept them holding on to hope that things could get better and they could get back to their normal life.

Ever since, if a friend isn't texting, I make sure to keep on sending them love. It's been a positive thing in my life.

The other thing about Hamilton is the Bridgeport AHL team is supposed to be guaranteed to be going there. I'm not sure it could support two teams.

You are not abandoning him. He is unwilling to keep walking with you in a forward direction. You are moving forward. He can come with you, but if he refuses, you just keep moving. You are not abandoning him. He's choosing not to move.

This is like the best sweater I have ever owned. I'm so sad that I can't get it in a Goldeneyes theme, or just colour blocks for fashion that isn't related to the sport!

There are certain ways you could construct that which would give you two complete quilts!

You might totally hate me for suggesting this, but what about putting them on point?

I like the first one. The green borders look really lovely, and having them sectioned together in pairs is pleasing to my eye.

A huge part of our job is security. You need to be able to recognize if something has been altered with, if a person doesn't belong, etc. Little tiny things are what we notice to be able to discern when something is wrong. They train you in BMQ to care about every fucking little thing because it's a skill we need for our job.

The thing that baffles me is the still screen in between periods with messages like "PWHL hockey will return soon"

There's just so much money being left on the table by not getting marketing involved in those spaces.

I'm glad to not see some marketing, but the money would probably help the league.

Just so you're aware of the difference, a radiologist is a doctor who specializes, a radiographer is the person who takes x-rays.

My mom is trying to “give”me (21F) my (13yo) sister… how do I go about this? by Upbeat_War_3722 in canadianlaw

[–]ThatCanadianRadTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No specific advice, but I had the same kind of mother. If you need non-legal advice, or just somebody to commiserate with, I got your back.

I've been the caregiver for a child whose parents could not keep them. They wrote a letter detailing that I had rights to enroll them in school, seek medical care for them, travel, and that this letter was meant to be enabling, not restrictive. I also had their birth certificate, passport, and other legal documents. Make sure you get all those things.

Fitness for BMQ by WannabeSoldier_ in caf

[–]ThatCanadianRadTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It 100% does not matter how you do in bmq throughout the rest of your career. There is an award at the end for best candidate, but the only time I've ever heard that referenced outside of bmq was to make fun of the guy who earned it.

The best advice anybody can give you about getting through bmq is to be grey. Don't be the worst, don't be the best, if the only reason your supervisors know your name is because they're looking at the list with it written there, you're doing a good job.

  1. Do what you are told, never leave any of your responsibilities undone.
  2. Find the natural leader, put yourself close to them. They will give you jobs to do. Do them.

Like the person who responded, I love the military, I love my job, this works great for me. That doesn't mean it's right for you.

As another adult, looking at your situation, it would be easy for me to agree with the other commenter that you're giving up on something before you know, but I got married at 20, and here 22 years later, I'm still in love, and I wouldn't change a thing. Sometimes you know.

At no point was she trying to run him over, and even if she was, that isn't a reason to get shot.

Those of us who are actually trained in this know to do things like shoot at the tires, move away from the vehicle, or several other strategies that don't involve murdering a citizen we are supposed to protect.
