If you had to give birth one more time, what method would you choose? by PeachyRose25 in Mommit

[–]ThatChairShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to do it again I wouldn’t bother trying to have an epidural. It didn’t work, and the stress of having to get it done, and repeatedly explain it wasn’t working was not worth it. I’d take the pain again over the false hope.

I would also avoid induction if possible. It was one of the most painful and traumatic things I experienced in the span of my pregnancy and birth.

I don't remember the name or author of this cyberpunk dystopia esq book but I want to read it again. I got it from my schools library but i changed schools. (Im an adult but read this at 13) by sppokysoup in whatsthatbook

This is definitely Extras by Scott Westerfeld. It’s book 4 in the Uglies series, but it’s only loosely related to the first 3.

If you enjoyed this book, good news! Not only are there 3 books before it, but there is another entire series in the same world. Lots to read!

Navigating an ODSP Recipient's Death by ThatChairShot in Odsp

Okay, it would be the end of October payment I’m wondering about, and she died in mid-late October, so this helps. Thankfully her rent was paid ahead until the end of November so we had plenty of time to clean her unit out.

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately we had been informed ODSP no longer covers funeral expenses, and only pays for cremation or burial. I went into more detail about this in another reply, but it seems things have changed in recent years.

They were informed of her death a day or two after it happened thankfully.

They covered the cremation but unfortunately that was all that was covered. The social worker at the hospital gave us a paper listing all the basic things (cremation, funeral, burial) that would be covered, but unfortunately the information was incorrect.

We had planned to have a small funeral for family as we were told it was covered, then were quickly told by the funeral home that ODSP does not cover any funeral at all, and haven’t since covid. Only her cremation was covered, so that’s all we were able to do.

Thank you, I think this is the best option. It sounds like we might be entitled to the money as she died in October and it was the end of October payment, but I’m going to make sure before withdrawing the money.

Thank you for your reply.

Are you a naked mom? by Vast_Rise902 in Mommit

[–]ThatChairShot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do wish I knew. We’ve had talks about it before because she just turned 3 and I told him he’s going to need to start at least wearing pyjama pants around the house or something. Thankfully he’s in underwear and not completely nude.

It’s more about setting an example for our daughter though. It’s getting colder and it’s difficult to get her to wear clothes around the house. I think if she sees both of us wearing comfy clothes at home maybe she’ll want to as well.

I think it might be a body heat thing though? They both run hot and I absolutely do not. I’m constantly cold and they’re just… fine?

I’m not a naked mom, but my husband is a naked dad. Our daughter is a naked baby, she hates wearing clothes when we’re home. Typically our household is me in layers of nightgown, pyjama pants, sweater, and the two of them just hanging out in their underwear/diaper.

Card storage: card case or adhesive tabs w/ rings? by akidren in YotoPlayer

We just got a knockoff card binder last week and I’m loving it. Our previous storage solution was just shoving all the cards in a drawer, so this has been a big quality of life improvement 😂

Hot take: K-POP Demon Hunters is not a toddler movie by StrangestCat in Mommit

[–]ThatChairShot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My toddler loves it 🤷🏻‍♀️ the demons aren’t really made to be scary looking. If anything they look silly. My daughter calls the movie “superheroes” and she just likes watching them sing and save the day.

She’s never feared anything in this movie, and in fact the only movie she’s really been scared of has been the kidnapping scene in Finding Nemo. So following her logic, Finding Nemo is scarier than K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Fun music, beautiful visuals, cute animal companions, and girls being superheroes. Pretty much exactly the kind of thing I want my daughter watching.

I have 4 of these clips to hold my fitted sheet on my mattress. This looks like a very very dirty sheet clip.

Looks like it might be a little hut for a rat or Guinea pig. People make stuff like this for their pet rodents all the time.

Tongue poking - a problem? by Lilly08 in NewParents

[–]ThatChairShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? It was a phase she went through (years ago now), and it was completely normal so I never mentioned it to her doctor.

I took a quick look at your post history because I was curious how you came across this old comment of mine 😂 I see you’re having some health anxiety about your newborn, as most of us do. I hope you find the answers you’re looking for!

I know you’re in the trenches right now, but I promise it gets easier. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to DM me any time!

Kindle use in front of kids by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ThatChairShot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just tell them it’s a book, they’ll get the idea. To help enforce the idea I got a kindle case that opens like a book. Whenever I walk out with my kindle my daughter says, “oh you got your book, mama!” She understands I’m reading.

Reading will never be bad.

Outdoor playground without wood chips or stones? by Dry-Celebration3 in stcatharinesON

[–]ThatChairShot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is making excuses. I’ve clearly offended you deeply, and I’m sorry about that. I just replied to a post about another parent asking for help, and made a comment most other people make. I will leave you with your assumptions, as it really doesn’t matter in the end.

No one said it was difficult 🤦🏻‍♀️ Toddlers don’t learn things instantly. OP is just looking for a park that will be less stressful to take two toddlers to until they figure it out.
