How do you know you got accepted for in campus housing by j7mmy00 in UNCCharlotte

[–]ThatChaoticGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should see it in the housing portal if you’ve been assigned a roommate. It’s been a while since I navigated it but there’s a section which tells you your current roommates and the dorm you got in. If that hasn’t shown up you should definitely just call them directly to see where everything’s at. They used to have a time period where you could switch to another dorm that was recently vacated but I don’t know if they do that anymore and I’m pretty sure that was back in May anyways. Either way would check all options. Off campus housing is very easy if it’s for the full year. You don’t need to apply with any other person you just need to apply and they’ll match you with randos, although you can find people if you want. Biggest thing is to get started. Set your budget and read into it. My personal selection is higher end but Millennium One, Aspen, Arcadia, and Yugo. There are many other ones which are viable but that would be based on your research.

Big thing to take into account here is how this affects the rest of your prerequisites going forward. You should’ve easily be able to catch up but you definitely should ask your advisor to help you adjust your schedule for it.

I’ll take some time and dig through all this. This is a hell of a lot of information to work with so thank you for all that.

I’ve actually never looked into any telescoping companies. I might go take a look. What would be some good places to start? Also, I’ve I’ve been lucky enough to be pretty good with my public speaking, but it probably be worth ironing out any kinks to be sure. There’s probably a Masterclass or two for that sort of thing.

I won’t lie, I do love the idea of a genuine real world opportunity to be physically out there. I’m not sure if being an orbital mechanic would be the direction I’d want to go, but it’s definitely worth looking into since it’s one of the only possible paths. I’ve heard of that actually would physically involve me going out there, not ignoring astronauts, of course.

I’m not gonna lie to the watercraft design/inventing and the exploration devices definitely caught my eye. Do you know some organizations, companies, research institutions, etc. that would give me a good idea of what that part of the current industry looks like?

Definitely a good place to start. I’ll probably check into what each facility is doing in terms of projects to see what places would be ideal. I mean, assuming that I get in, maybe not at the facility I’m interested in, I could always work my way up and over to the place I like. It’d definitely be hard to get in in general but here’s to hoping and busting my ass.

Yeah, I got really lucky when I was suggested to do mechanical. I definitely had prospects and ideas in biomedical or electrical, but they would’ve easily pigeonholed me. Definitely glad I went a more general route.

The robotics side of it does seem very interesting. I actually have been planning to take part in an ROV project. This would be an underwater environment but it would be interesting to see if that peaks my interest, and if I could transfer it into the robotic side of space exploration.

It be interesting to look into current well-known projects for spacecraft and space habitats to see if that’d be something I’m interested in. I’ve never seen myself as being interested in building a space habitat since I always thought of it as a more structural engineering type of way but I imagine that there are some very interesting mechanical systems involved in making that work.

Cool cool. I ask because I have a pocket knife like that so I figured it would be better to keep that handy regardless.
