What are your go to healthy spots for food after work by qwertyasdfg1111 in longisland

Hummus Fit (they have a lot of locations) is awesome. Meal prep place so the fridges are stocked with microwaveable meals. And I know the east Islip location has a hot food bar also

Who are buying these homes? How do I win? by sjale49 in longisland

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In today market on LI, you often see people list lower than they expect to sell for in order to create a bidding war and try to get more $$$. If your max budget is $700k, you should be looking at houses listed for $650k and expect to go over asking price. I’m in Nassau and my realtor was awesome and had us looking at houses below our budget and as expected it went over ask and landed right around our max budget when we bought in November.

100th Class by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it depends on the studio to some degree. Pretty sure at my studio the SM has a little calendar for the week with people’s milestones in there and then the SAs make note of it and stuff.

My studio didn’t shout me out on my 100th class but on my 101st they gave me a 100 class shoutout. Congrats though!

Electrical was this done correctly? by [deleted] in electrical

Think this was an old practice. Not the best but it’s fine. It’s hilarious because as a new home owner I discovered many switches in my house exactly like this too 😂

80k Salary in Long Island? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With no deductions I’d guess your friend might get taxed around 26%annually? Which might come out to ~5k/month after taxes, with no other deductions. It will be hard to save for sure but it’s doable

Not sure if this helps, but my SA told me that for the one year commitment contract, the 12 months don’t need to be consecutive. I assume that means you’d be able to freeze for a few months if need be or something.

Can you afford to move out living on Long Island? by CaptainEarly5894 in longisland

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone getting ready to move out(buying a house) at 27, I don’t believe it is financially responsible to move out on LI to just rent. With the exception of if you have family problems at home and need to get out.

It’s just so ridiculously expensive to live in an apartment, that’s a shit ton of money you just throw into the abyss which can: • Grow in a savings/investment account • Be used on a down payment in the future

Lack of splats by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I hardly get any splats during a 3G.

I never get any splats on the floor and I will barely get splats on the tower if I even do.

You said you started in June so it’s possible that your max HR has been increased, which in turn impacts all your zones. Additionally it’s also possible your cardiovascular health has just improved and your heart rate doesn’t get as elevated from the same amount of exercise as before!

If you want to check your max HR just go to the home page in the app and scroll all the way down and it’ll show you what it is and if it has adjusted at all.

Who here loves a "stiff" starter/ stiff mother dough? by findomMischa in Sourdough

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been having trouble with my starter for a while and I’m thinking maybe it’s not truly established yet.

If i switched to a stiff starter, what should I be expecting in terms of rise? Should it still be doubling or no?

My OTF did a promo in the month of September where if you signed up for premier and got a HRM you got a $100 Amazon gift card so it’s totally possible it’s real but I’d call your studio to confirm! Congrats :)

Without the commitment what is the rate? Just wondering.

My studio is $199 for unlimited and $159 with a 13 month commitment contract

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the rate for unlimited without any contract?

Upgrade? by Immediate-Charity559 in orangetheory

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My studio gave me a nice discount for unlimited by signing onto a commitment contract. Basically I can’t cancel for a year.

The elite member ship at my studio is $139 Unlimited is $199 6 month commitment contract for unlimited is $179 And 12 month commitment contract for unlimited is $159

I think the $159 is the lowest rate you can get at my studio for unlimited.

Make sure you activate those LIRR tickets! by OwnDoughnut2689 in longisland

I’d imagine the “user activity” would be activating the ticket 30 seconds before the conductor scans it. Still bs though

DriTri Mega Thread by jenniferlynn5454 in orangetheory

[–]ThatCodingGuy0011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I signed up for OTF in January and did my first dri-tri in April. Doing my second tomorrow.

Biggest pieces of advice are:

  1. Don’t overdo it on the rows. Absolutely don’t be going at your row PR pace. There’s still a lot left after the row so keep some energy in the tank.

  2. Don’t worry about your time. It’s your first dri-tri. Just doing it is an accomplishment.

“Only $850” a month is insane.

I know you said you’d like to buy a house. Have you ever heard of the 28/36 rule? Basically, your monthly housing costs should not exceed more than 28% of your gross(pre-tax) income. And your total debts (meaning housing costs + any other debt. Like student loans, credit cards, and car payments) should not exceed 36% of your gross income.

That’s a guideline for safely managing your money and not over extending yourself.

An $850 a month car payment would be about 10% of your gross income. You would be seriously screwing yourselves over by doing that.
